Rented apartment in 3/2000. Rent was paid on time each month. I accepted a job promotion out of state and utlized the "employment transfer clause of lease". I was on my eleventh month of 12 month lease. I paid the reletting fee, etc. I was told I could utilize the employment transfer clause. I gave them a 45 day notice/intent to move. They also needed a letter from prospective employer to validate employment transfer clause. They needed their letter by the first of the month. The office received the letter on the 2nd of the month I was to move. With items on the truck, they notified me that I was not going to be able to use the employment transfer clause because they didnt receive the letter on time (one day late due to weekend mail). Nothing else for me to do. They went in and charged me $5.00 to clean sink, 15.00 to clean toilet, repaint apartment, clean carpet, clean fireplace, etc. ALL THIS AFTER a team of four persons cleaned this apartment overt three day period. After three years, they decided to sue me for the money they said I owed. TN court dismissed the action due to length of time they waited. New state also dismissed the action when they attempted a second time. They turned the action over to collections department (Sharp Jackson Collections) where it remains to this day on my credit report and will remain on the credit report until 1/2010) Its a small price to pay. After all these years, the impact on my credit has decreased immensely, but the principle of it all, they were wrong!
