I moved from this complex over a year ago, but still find myself sometimes thinking about the ordeal I went through when I moved out. I notified the office staff in writing 60 days prior to my move. I was terminating my lease early due to a transfer to another state with my job. Movers came, packed and loaded my things while I was working already in the new state. Having paid my rent through the end of the month, I had not planned to return to grab the last of my items and clean the apartment until the end of the month. Then due to work schedule I found myself unable to return. I tried unsuccessfully for three days at the end of the month to contact office staff to advise them I had vacated the apartment and that a friend was going to drop off keys, remotes and pick up my cable boxes left behind. After finally speaking with EVERYONE in the office on the first day of the new month (and the maintenance staff), I was advised my apartment had been cleaned out and items left had been "thrown away". Upon researching the situation, I discovered they had rented my apartment less than two weeks after my movers had come and while I was still paying rent (which is ILLEGAL). I was unable to recover my cable boxes. They lied and told me they had cleaned out the apartment on the 1st and thrown the left items into the "compactor". I did contact property management who responded properly after I contacted the Shelby County sherrif's office and reported the theft of the items. Office staff never would admit the wrong and/or apologize. DO NOT TRUST this group of people.
