I have lived in Whispering Oaks for almost a year now and all I can say is that if your number one goal is privacy or safety....you better look elsewhere. Keep in mind these are condos and not apartments. That means the Management only manages and does not own them. The difference is huge in the mentality it creates.

When I moved in I questioned them about crime and they told me that it was not an issue and they have had one break in in one year. Boy I must have bad luck because in my first year there I was broken into and my car was vandalized.

Neighbors are 50/50 and it is the luck of the draw as with anywhere. I can say that when you do have a problem with a neighbor the management will not do anything about it. They simply neglect most issues.

Parking in my lot is always too full and I have to park in the other complex and walk over. This is livable and shouldn't make or break your decision.

Getting maintenance out to your condo is 2 day joke. I went without a shower for 4 days while the maintenance guy fixed my shower. Three days after he fixed my shower a couple of tiles fell out of the wall. Nice huh' When I called management to have him come back out and ask him to fix it better, they said they would give him a call. A long story short he never came and I now use those tiles as coasters.

Management is your typical smile to your face and give a darn about your living situation. They are kind and are helpful in signing another contract with them, but really are not good to work with.

All together I would say that the price of the apartment is pretty good considering you cant find much cheaper in that area of town, but you will pay in other ways. I have had some real problems with it in the year Ive live there and feel bent over a barrel because it is difficult to move and expensive when your going into another apartment. I would not recommend it to a friend, but if you decide to move in than maybe we can hang out together by the far end pool that they like to ignore.

I moved in a year ago and I like it. Common now it could be a ton worse. And I overlook the pool so it's perfect.

I'm a homeowner and have lived here five years. This is a great place to live. There doesn't appear there's any place in Shelby Co. that's crime free, and if you look around at other apartment/condo complexes in East Memphis, our crime rate is very low in comparison. I love it here.
