My husband and I have lived in Rosewood apartments for almost two years. We are in graduate school and would have moved out on more than one occasion if we had any time to do so. I will not be sad to leave this place this summer.

We looked at a LOT of apartments before we moved here. The Rosewood model apartment we looked at before signing the lease was nice, the location is convenient to MTSU, the price was reasonable, and it had w/d hookups, so in the end we chose Rosewood. When we moved in, our actual apartment was dingy and smelly, and the carpet was wet like it had been cleaned, but it turned our socks dirty, so it was not clean.

The building itself isn't horrible, but small problems turn into problems ranging from annoyances to health hazards. Maintenance has been intrusive (coming in without notice, tracking mud in) and incompetent (letting a water leak turn into a mold problem, for example). For the most part, they have been nice guys, but I could do a better job myself. I have learned not to even call them; we just deal with the problem ourselves. The neighbors are nice, but I think we live in one of the better buildings. The bulb in the security light outside has been dead since we moved in, so I don't walk our dog after dark -- I make my husband do it. Noise from neighbors isn't really a problem, but there are gas-powered leaf blowers year-round. It is ridiculous. I would rather see leaves in the breezeway than be woken up by a leaf blower (or my dog barking at the leaf blowers).

However, overall, the office staff is the worst thing about this place. There have been two or three different managers (and at least that many cycles of office staff and maintenance workers) since we've been here (this is never a good sign). When we moved in, they weren't very good but at least they left us alone. The new management and staff seem really nice and cheery face-to-face, but I honestly don't trust them. Now, they leave notes (for everyone) all the time, most of which are insulting and written in a threatening tone. My husband and I have tried to make our apartment nice and I think we are good tenants, so it's not that we won't do things to make our community better. It is that their policies are NOT improving the community; their new rules are pushy, invasive, and punitive. I am an educated adult and I can make my own decisions about, for example, when to take out the trash. Even if I weren't educated, I am paying rent. And for what' To be told what to do and what not to do' It's insulting. Also, the rent went up recently. But there was NO improvement in the standard of living to justify raising rent.

I know of worse places in town (more crime, etc.), but if I could go back, I would not have picked Rosewood.
