Awful is an understatement

I have lived in College Grove for a year. When I toured the complex with my mom before my freshman year of college, we were shown a nice, clean four bedroom, four bathroom apartment. One of the things that really sold my mom on the place was the security system, an alarm that provides a loud siren that does not alert the police, along with a red button in every bedroom hooked up to a phone line that would alert the police. After the tour, I was excited about moving in.. until it actually happened.

The first thing I was told when moving in was that the security alarm and red buttons had been disconnected to cut costs. Well, there goes the only chance for safety in this apartment building. I then went to look in my room, which had supposedly been cleaned before I moved in. The stains on the carpet that at least faded with resolve proved that the carpet cleaning they claimed had happened really didn't. The blank ink stains on my desk that came off with enddust proved they hadn't touched that either. Throw a dirty white undershirt on a closet shelf.. I was and am convinced they didn't even go in my room inbetween the time the previous owner moved out and I moved in.

A black something is impossible to get off my baseboards. The shower pressure is horrible and the drain clogs up constantly (as well as the toilet - not just mine, all 3 of my roommates as well). Fortunately we havent had an ant problem... but flies are awful. The day I moved in was spent with 2 roommates and myself with rolled up magazines killing the flies that were inhabiting our apartment. The thin walls are pretty ridiculous. A person in the apartment next to mine apparently enjoys very loud sex against the wall adjacent to our living room. Needless to say we blast the tv when this occurs. The internet is frustrating to say the least, especially when you have classes that require you to turn in assignements online. I found myself driving to the mtsu parking lot to use their internet just to send in papers.

Our dryer was broken the first two months we lived there. Our dishwasher was broken for a month. Fortunately we got brand new of both b/c one of my roommates was working for the apartment complex at the time. The majority of people I knew were just screwed if something broke.

Which brings me to maintenance. Nice men' Sure. Efficient' Nope. Intrusive' You bet. Nothing quite like waking up to find a random man inside your room. I've been startled by this on more than one occasion. My neighbors have as well, so I know its a common occurence.

Fortunately I haven't been victimized by any of the crime in this complex. My roommate had her bike stolen and her car urinated on, but it could definitely be worse. Such as the armed robbery that occured at the beginning of the Fall 2006 semester in broad daylight. Or the guy that raped a girl and threatened her with scissors in Spring 2007, also in the middle of the day. I'm in a front building in a well-lit area.. but that doesn't by any chance mean I feel safe. I carry mace with me and pray the entire way from my car to my apartment. Fortunately I have male neighbors that are willing to come meet me and walk me up on nights I work late.

Loud parties on the weekends, but that's a common occurence at any college apartmet complex. You learn to ignore the obnoxiously loud drunk people.. although during exam weeks, you find yourself wishing death curses on whatever person gave the intoxicated guy below you a guitar.

I have met fellow college grove residents in classes, and I must say we share an instant bond and immediately begin trading stories about the crap we've seen.

Parents, beware. I don't tell my parents half the stuff that goes on here because I don't want to worry them. But heed this warning now: Find better for your child. Even if this is the cheapest rent, you can't put a price on your childs safety and health.

Students, you get what you pay for. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji

That could happen at the grocery store or while you're at the bar. The guy who raped a girl and threatened her with scissors...that wasn't at College Grove it was at Raider's Crossing which is the next apartment complex over. It was in the paper!!!!!!!!! The guy escaped from the police while he was at Raider's Crossing and came through the field behind the funeral into the back "FIELD" of College Grove. Yes there were cops all over the College Grove property but that's because the suspect was seen running towards the Grove from the Crossings. As for anyother concern about crime...how many crimes do you think happens on campus, walmart, or the drive-in at your fave fast food restaurant. Unfortunately, things can happen anywhere and it's impossible to have security everywhere at all times. Even security devices are capable of malfunction and smart criminals can find ways around the security devices. Promise. My father is a US Marshall. It happens. So before you post something full of such nonsense as "awful is an understatement", maybe you should check your facts because this appears to make you look completely ignorant!
