College Grove ruined my life. Seriously.

I have lived at College Grove for nearly two years, and it has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life. To be completely honest, the only reason I've stayed so long is because the rent is cheap. It is dirt cheap, but for a reason.
For starters, the place is falling apart. They gave us brand new couches and arm chairs not too long ago, and the springs are already busting out. Our dining room table is missing a leg, our dishwasher smells and never EVER works (we have to do our dishes by hand), our washer and dryer have had maintenance repeatedly, and our air conditioner has dripped constantly since I've lived here.
Which brings me to another issue. The constant drip of the A/C, over time, caused a large amount of mold to be produced, which is STILL in our carpets. Oddly enough, my roommate, shortly after moving in, got sick. And stayed sick. For MONTHS. Her mother finally proposed that maybe she had an allergy to our apartment....and guess what' She now has ASTHMA!!! Because of the mold!!
And, that is just the tip of the iceburg with this ---- hole. The staff are complete idiots. They can't even operate a telephone. At least half of the times that I call the clubhouse to ask a simple question, I have to be put on hold because no one knows the answer...and then they hang up because they can't even figure out the hold button. In addition, if you ask two staff members the same question, I guarantee their answers will be different. NO ONE THERE CAN DO THEIR JOB! How hard can it be to answer phones and file leases all day' Not very.
In addition, the College Grove "ambiance" is pretty depressing. The dumpsters especially. My roommates and I have coined the term "trash mountain" because they get so disgustingly full of garbage. Not to mention the trash all over the complex from all of the parties that go on.
Also, from reading all of the other comments people have left, I have to make known the crime rate that exists on the complex. VERY HIGH. I cannot count the times I've heard about break-ins, rape, being held at gunpoint in the parking lot, and even the time THE CLUBHOUSE MADE A KEY FOR A RAPIST. That's right...the idiots at the clubhouse gave out a copy of a key to a 4 bed/4 bath apartment full of girls to a RAPIST--WHO THEN BROKE INTO THEIR APARTMENT.
Just writing all of this down makes me even angrier. I'm just happy to say I'm finally getting out. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say reading all these reviews make me really nervous. We have signed a contract for our son for this next year. I would like to comment on the ones who say its really cheap. Its not that much cheaper than some of the other places. We looked into it. Also why if it stressed you out so much why live there for 2 years? They claim you can't break the contract but you could have gotten out after the first year. If its as bad as you say I would have gotten out no matter how much extra money I had to pay at some other place.

i pay 315 a month for my own bedroom and bathroom. at the time i signed my first contract, this was by far cheaper than other places i checked out (all at over 400) and the model room looked nice. it easy to say you'd pay whatever it took to get out when you're a parent paying rent for your child. when you're a full time college student working 2 jobs to pay for tuition, books, food and rent, you can't afford to be too picky.
the key is to be careful. don't walk places by yourself after dark. if youre female, don't walk places by yourself at all. (To your car in broad daylight is ok. but don't walk from a back building to the clubhouse or dumpster.) don't get wasted in the parking lot. don't leave your door cracked. don't park in not well lit places. don't come home too late. if you're a female, carry mace. tell your son to use common sense and he should be fine. also, i've noticed the majority of crime happens in the back buildings. the front buildings by the clubhouse are generally pretty ok. the worst i've heard of/experienced is cars getting broken into or partiers being obnoxious.

Do not allow your son to live here for any reason unless you want him to do poorly at school. If you read my review "The Good And The Bad about University Courtyard", then you'll understand that the crime thing is no joke. Seriously, this place is epedimic and rife with criminal activities. Worst of all it was a giant hinderence to me with my work and with my school. You really do want to avoid this place like the plague and honestly if you do have the finacial means to do so, get him a single bedroom apartment by himself because you really do not know what kind of nut they are gonna put in with him.
