After previously living at two different apartment complexes in Murfreesboro, I moved into Colony House this summer and am very pleased with my stay thus far. The management has been great with getting me settled in and answering any questions that I had. Anything that I need changed or fixed is promptly addressed by maintenance. Although some of the surrounding neighborhood may be less than appealing, I have never felt unsafe in my new home, which is more than I can say for other places. Also, I haven't run into any issues with parking or noise.
I read the other reviews posted on this website, and I believe some of them poorly and inaccurately describe living at Colony House. (I've never seen a drug deal in the area, and I don't think ANY apartment complexes allow personal grills since they are fire hazards...)
I would recommend anyone in search of an apartment to stop by and meet the great staff at Colony House!

I agree... ive never had any problems with the complex and i totally understand the thing about not having grille's! The fact that im not allowed to have one personally does not bother me at all.. well since they have installed more than enough Grille's that are openly avaliable to any of us that wish to use them! There is no problem as far as i see it.. Also, with the blinds issue... if you have a cat or maybe your just rough on blinds i can see why they would want you to pay for them! However, on the other hand, if your blinds just "break" then i don't see them having a problem with simply replacing them for a person. The reason that they might so called "threaten" somebody about replacing something as simple as window blinds would obvioulsy be because they really do care about the overall look of the Apartment Complex and want to uphold a very pleasant look.. I know some people don't care what their apartments look like but i for one like to keep a neat looking place and so does the staff of colony house.

Since you were referring to my post with your "personal grill" comment I will let you know when we moved in the apartment in January 2008 grills were allowed it was not until later after we purchased a grill that we were told to remove it immediately. Our original lease even states we were allowed to have grills on our patios. And another thing while I am ranting. When you go home tonight look around the complex and see how many blinds are broken and tell me why I was threaten with a "late rent" penalty if I did not pay money to have our blinds replaced or replace them my self with in 48 hours. And this is not because our rent was late it was because the charge to replace them would be considered "late rent". Now tell me since you are so happy with the apartment complex why all the other apartments are allowed to have broken blinds. Its because when management decides to pick at one thing they Threaten the tenants but when they have other things to do they don't take the time to make things ??look nice??. We have since moved out of the apartment complex but as you are driving home the not so ??appealing?? people you talk about did not live there 2 years ago. It was a nice neighborhood two years ago but now management has decided to rent to anyone.

If your only issue was with the blinds and not having a grill...I think you're doing pretty good. Although I haven't had any issues myself....
Let's look at the big picture though with the grills...would you really want your neighbor carelessly grilling and catch their apartment, along with yours, on fire? I wouldn't, and I doubt you would either. And I would check your lease again too...I remember being pretty bummed when I moved in and they told me I couldn't have a grill. Actually, between the newsletters and flyers that they send out you were probably sent some kind of reminder that they weren't allowed on top of that. Colony House is pretty good about keeping all of us informed...sorry for your luck though.
