Nice place to live.

We just moved from Rivermont this month. Overall I had a good experience since moving in Sept 2006. The complex well maintained. They take a lot of care with the landscaping and keeping the area clean. The pool area is nice as well. It is located right off the greenway which is nice if you like to walk/bike/etc. There are grills you can use and a tennis court.

We lived in one of the 2 bedroom townhomes. Like before mentioned in previous ratings, the kitchen is old but was functional. There was a lot of cabinet space compared to other apartments and the dishwasher and fridge worked well. Our stove died and was replaced by a poorly insulated new stove. Whenever you used the oven the kitchen was unbearably hot.

The rooms were all a nice size. Our carpet was new when we moved in. The townhome was generally clean when we came too. I didn't feel the urge to have to scrub everything before I used it. We left it clean as well and weren't charged anything.

Another post talked about problems with the pet policy. We moved in and stayed with our large Boxer with no problems at all. They never told us anything had changed or that we had to get rid of our pet. I don't know what she was talking about. Not everyone picks up pet poop though, so watch were you step. They give you plenty of notice when they are going to enter the apartments so you can have your animals put up. When we signed our lease large dogs were accepted and there was a $300 pet deposit that was nonrefundable. We did not pay any pet rent.

We didn't have any problems with maintenance requests or management. I felt safe taking my dog out anytime during the night. I didn't hear of any crime or thefts in the complex the year I lived there.

My main complaints about the townhome are the following.

1. It was IMPOSSIBLE to keep the upstairs cool during the summer. The air conditioner wasn't sufficient and our electricty bills were really high for a 1200 square foot place. The maintenance guy came and worked on the air conditioner and it was better for a bit, but soon was back to poor cooling for upstairs.

2. SPIDERS! They were everywhere. They sprayed once when we were on vacation and after that there were spiders everywhere for the last 4 months we lived there. They continued to spray every month and gave us tons of sticky traps and new spiders were caught daily. Most of the spiders were brown recluses - this was verified by the bug sprayers. My husband was even bitten by one. We also had some lizards to the dismay of my dog. She would camp the couch waiting for them to run back out.

3. Thompson Lane traffic. If you try to go somewhere in the morning or afternoon and need to make a left turn out of the apartment be prepared to sit for a while. Thompson Lane is way too busy during peak times and there is of course no light to help you get out. If you get stuck behind someone who is scared to pull out you can sit there 10 minutes easily.

I would recommend Rivermont to anyone. We only moved due to moving out of state, I would have stayed at Rivermont otherwise until we bought a house or something like that. Rent is good compared to other apartments for what you get living space wise.
