I have had so many problems here at Sterling or University Gables or whatever the heck they are calling it this week.

I had problems before I even moved in and didnt want to move in, but I had already signed a lease. I was promised a certain bedroom in a certain unit, paid my deposit and when it came time to sign the lease they told me I couldnt have that apartment. This was my first sign things were going to be a mess.

Stuff is always breaking here. In the two months I have lived in this unit, the shower has been stopped up twice, the washing matching didnt work for 3 WEEKS, the sink has sprung a leak and we had water leaking into the kitchen from the AC unit in the apartment above us.

Also the carpets are NASTY here! Honestly you would not believe it unless you experience it for yourself. You walk around your apartment and the bottom of your feet turn BLACK! I am not kidding. We have even had our carpets cleaned and our feet are still getting dirty.

The apartments are tiny. They make them look big when they are showing them by opening the blinds and such. Light makes the bedrooms look bigger. In the small four bedroom I couldnt even sit at my computer desk without backing up to the dresser.

The walls here are paper thin. When I am in my bathroom, I can hear my roommates on the other side using their bathroom. How disgusting! I can hear just about every move my roommate makes. You can even hear her talking on the phone or listening to music when she goes to bed. If you want some privacy, this is not the place for you.

We have gone over every month on our electricity. Only they dont send you the bill until 6 months later. I am not kidding. I just got the water bill for Jan, Feb, and March(its now the end of July). The note they put on our door stated that it must be paid in 5 days. This is not the first time this has happened and I am sure it wont be the last.

As for roommate matching, I am on my second set of roommates. I am a junior and I was matched with freshman. Here I am 21 years old living with 18 year olds. It was a nightmare .. so much that I moved to another unit. I dont care for the roommates I am living with now because I suspect they are using drugs in our apartment. (Is that the kind of roommates you want to end up with'!)

Also the assistant property manager and another employee came into my apartment one day and stood outside the bathroom while I was using it. I did not know they were in my apartment. I came out of the bathroom to find them standing there. They said they came to find out why my rent was late.

I have never paid my rent late. They had their records wrong. I paid my rent on the third of the month. They never even sent me a notice that my rent was late. I would have gone to the office and corrected THEIR mistake, but I never got a notice (which they are required to send). I have never gotten an apology or any contact for the assistant manager about this. However I was informed by someone I know that works at the office that it was the office's mistake and they credited the wrong apartment with my check. I was so mad about the invasion of privacy, I demanded to speak to the regional manager on the phone. I was given her cell phone number. I called her and she gave me some BS excuse and really didnt do anything to fix the situation.

The "CAs" (office workers)are college kids. They are only working at the office to get their rent paid for. They have no experience in renting or apartment complexes. Most of the time they dont know what the heck is going on. They will promise you something and then you talk to management about it and management tells you the exact opposite. Dont trust them with your rent checks either. Make sure you get a receipt!!

You think the shuttle bus sounds like a great amenity' WRONG!! It will always be full. You will never get a seat on it unless you leave at least 40 minutes or more before your class starts. Sometimes it is on time, sometimes it isnt. I usually drove to class instead of riding the shuttle. Also it only drops you off at one place - the library. My classes were in Peck Hall which is a long way from the library.

The pool has been quite green lately, as maintenance is too lazy to get off their duff and clean it. Also 9 times out of 10 the hot tub is green.

The tanning bed is pretty old. Not worth the time it takes to walk to the office to use it.

Parents, I would warn you about safety. You can break into the front door using a butter knife. I know because our apartment has gotten broken into. We came home to find our apartment lock busted. Also the locks on the bathroom door are a joke. You want someone walking in on your daughter in the shower'! I dont feel safe here. I have heard about break ins from other residents. I have also heard about car getting broken into because of the type of neighborhood that is across the back field from this complex.

I HATE living here. I would not live here another year if they gave me free rent. I would rather move back home with my parents than live here another year. Heck, I would rather live in the dorm than live here!

I have warned everyone I know NOT to move here. Please dont move here, you will be sorry.
