NO WAY! RUN BEFORE YOU SIGN THE LEASE!

I don't know what the person who said not to live here was thinking, but I definitely don't think they lived at the Arbors of Brentwood, seeing as a problem with the (non-existant) security gate would be the LEAST of their issues. For one, there are NO security gates.... for two, the folks in the office genuinely do not care about their residents, resident retention, or satisfaction. The office staff has been completely changed a total of 4 times in less than two years, each slightly more inept than the last. How' you may ask' Well, when I first moved in, I had to come to Nashville because of a job, and they couldn't get my apt ready on time. In the meantime, I moved into another apt in the Arbors complex, where I had a run-in with a lovely peeping tom. The Arbors security staff, in their imminent knowledge (and who also happened to be a metro cop), informed me that there was a serial rapist working in the area, had been for a number of years, and they presumed that, when he wasn't stalking and raping, he was out peeping. In the meantime, they suggested, that should this person come back, the best thing to do was act calm, pick up the phone, dial 911 and have a casual chat with the operator like I was talking to a friend-- and to continue taking off my clothes to "keep his interest" until they could get a patrol unit there.

You think that's bad'
How's this' After the peeper, I informed them that I wanted my new apt cleaned and finished, I felt I had more than justifiable grounds, that had been the deal when I moved in, etc. The staff informed me that one of their employees, Caley, had "accidentally" rented my unit-- the one I signed the initial lease on and had been promised from the start. In the meantime, they decided to grant me a month of free rent. When rent day came and went, I was relived; 6 days later, guess who got an overdue notice with 15% penalty' That's right: when I took them their note guaranteeing me a free month's rent, they informed me that the manager wasn't authorized to give residents free rent or other perks without a regional person's authorization... sorry, they said, just can't do it. And by the way, you owe us $650 plus 15%.

On top of this, my pipes burst and flooded my apartment in the dead of winter. I called the office, they came and fixed the pipes, and ripped out all my carpet and soaked-thru padding, leaving them in a nice 5' tall heap in the hallway. I walked around in bare feet on concrete floors in Dec., and the 5' soaked carpet mound became a mountain of mildew and mold next to its hallway heater vent: where the Arbors allowed it to sit for two weeks before ever bothering to come back and clean up their mess or replace the carpet.

To their credit, they did upgrade my apt to the next size and allow me to pay the same rent, but that was only until the lease came due again, at which point they jacked up the price by $120. A $120 increase' Yep... and I was dumb enough to pay it. Since I moved in in late 2000, my rent has increased steadily by about $200.

When I finally got around to getting the new apt., I went ahead and got the friends together, got the truck, took time off from work-- only to have the Arbors, on my moving day, tell me there had been a "problem," and now they didn't have that apt ready for me, either!

I have been stung by wasps (I'm allergic to them) INSIDE the apt from the wasps living in all the eaves and overhangs, and have had friends have to administer emergency epinepherine injections at 2 a.m. from stings. When I called about the wasps in the roof-- you could HEAR them buzzing in the walls-- they sent maintenance over to look. They "looked" from their standing position on the lawn of the first floor (to the roof on the third) behind our building, and left me a note saying they didn't "see anything." Wasps continue to find ways in, thru the windows, the screen, and lord knows how else because they end up by 2's and 3's in my apt. We also have a brown recluse infestation, which I have requested treatment for no less than 5 times: the exterminators have showed up maybe twice. My cat had extensive vet bills after being bitten on the paw by a brown recluse; I called the office to tell them I'd been stung by wasps and now my cat had a necrotic ulcer from their spiders: they said they'd send in an exterminator asap. I took my dog and cat to a friend's; guess who didn't show up'

On top of all this, the attitudes and ineptitude of the people in the office is atrocious.... service calls have to be repeated 3-5 times, and I've even had them DIG OUT and CLEAN my garbage disposal with the ONEIDA SILVER from my dishwasher! The amenities have been destroyed by delinquents, kids knock down the stopsigns and directional signs in the complex itself on almost a weekly basis, one of my neighbors dumps her catbox at the base of an oaktree in front of our building: just factor in the 100 degree heat of Nashville in July and you have a pretty good idea of how pleasant that can be.....

My only advice if you're thinking of renting here'' RUN!!!!!!!!!!!! mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH
