THE WORST APARTMENT I HAVE EVER LIVED IN

My husband and I looked at Bavaria Apts online before we moved to Nasvhille from OR. They looked charming online and I thought they might be a possibility. We planned on coming out before our move to get an apt lined up but our plans fell through. We came to Nashville without a place to move into and knew that we needed to find a place very quickly so that we could unload our rented truck and return it on time, which left us with few options. We found once we got there that no one had an apt available for immediate move-in, at least the apts that we contacted. Except for Bavaria. They were more than happy to get us in that day. The apt we were shown was a 2 bdr, despite us requesting a 3 bdr. We decided to make due for now with the office's assurance that when a 3 bdr became available we'd be able to transfer to a new apt. Also, we were told that the maintenance team was in the finishing stages of having the apt ready for move-in and we were told what would be completed. To try and give them some credit, some things were attempted, though attempts were very shoddy. They spot painted several areas leaving paint stained carpets, paint splatter all over the kitchen stove and counters. NOTHING WAS CLEANED!!! The carpets were soiled, the sliding door blind was missing a slat, windows were broken and had cracks and one of the stove burners is broken and just sort of sits/flops around on the stove. I documented everything on paper and took pictures of the condition on move-in. When I took this down to the apartment office I got a 'you've got to be kidding me' look. The leasing agent told me how busy the maintenance crew was with tons of move-out/move-in that was going on in the complex and apologized and said they'd get someone to our apartment as soon as they could to address some of the issues. About 2 weeks after this the overhead flourescent light in the kitchen went out, so my husband and i contacted the office to let them know about this and the fact that the garbage disposal, though it made 'noise' didn't actually work and to let them know that no one had been to our apartment yet. We got 'the crew is swamped' speech again, but this time he documented what we talked about in the computer. It's been 3 weeks later and NO ONE has been to fix anything yet. The maintenance guy has told my husband several times when he's seen him out and about in the complex that 'i haven't forgotten about you'. this is no way to build any kind of tenant loyalty.

we also bought a new washer and dryer since our apt had hook-ups. when the appliances were delivered the delivery guy could not set them up because it had to be replumb because the drain was jacked up with the pipe screwed to the wall and THROUGH the hose itself. the washer also is hooked up to the kitchen sink so when we wash our clothes all the water comes up through our sink before draining out (which is how we found out that our garbage disposal wasn't working. ICK!) the floors are all sloped and buckled and nothing is level throughout the whole apartment.

also, the same maintenance crew left a toilet that they removed from an apartment by the dumpster and it sat there by the dumpster for almost 2 weeks before anyone got rid of it. the dumpster area is always overflowing because after the trash guys come no one opens up the top lids of the dumpster and then tenants just throw trash to accumulate on the top or else just leave it sitting beside the dumpster in the parking lot. it's DISGUSTING. yet when we moved in the leasing agent made it a point of letting us know that no garbage bags were to be sitting outside the apartment door to be taken to the dumpster later and if it was seen to be happening the tenant would receive a $25 per incident fine. well, as a tenant i think we should get a $25 credit on the rent when the complex fails to keep the trash area presentable and sanitary. it only seems fair.

as an example of the quality of the apartments. the maintenance crew made a list of the things they were working on in our apartment to get it ready. on the list it said "paint over the hair in the drawers in the bathroom". seriously. "paint" over the hairs. how about cleaning out the drawer first and then painting it if needed. i thought that had to be wrong but when i went to look at the drawer sure enough there were hairs imbedded in paint!

pets are allowed and we have 2 dogs, but there are supposed to be breed restrictions. despite the 'breed restrictions' i have seen several people walking pit bulls, which i would think would be at the top of 'restriction' list. makes me worry about taking my 2 small dogs (pug and mini dachschund) for a walk around the complex...

sure the rent is cheap, but the bavaria apartments are crap and it would be an improvement if we did manage to get what we pay for. we haven't even been here 2 months and it's looking like we're going to give 60 days notice and pay 2 months rent just to get out of this hole from hades. i would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone...

wow!!! i know you are not lying because the same thing happened to me when my family moved in about 3 years ago. most professionally managed communities have the units professionally clean before allowing new tenants to move in. not bavaria. when i moved in my unit was spot painted, old carpeting, rusted toilet seats, broken windows, missing blinds and the list goes on. do yourself a favor and get out. seriously, GET OUT as in the Amityville Horror. there are plenty of nice apartments in the area closer to edmondson pike/old hickory blvd area.
