Disappointed

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
My fiance and I moved into this complex with high hopes. We loved the area, and our apartment. It was spacious, and had a great layout. We didn't have many problems when we first moved in. Maintenance evenutally got around to fixing some things that were wrong at move-in, but it is a larger complex, with few maintenance, so we understood. The apartment itself was nice, but in the summertime really ate up our electric bill. The upstairs was substantially warmer than the down, where the thermostat was. We rarely had a bill during warm months that was under $100.
In the year that we've lived here, the community has gone down-hill. We were fortunate enough to have great neighbors in our nook, but I began to feel unsafe walking our dog at night. On several occasions, my fiance came across loud, somewhat violent domestic disputes in the common parking area. We did see police a lot, and after checking the crime stats, found that about 30 people had been arrested in the complex alone. Compared to other apartments in Bellevue, that's quite high.
The water is also another bone of contention. The water bill is outrageous as it's not metered, but estimated. They tried chargins us $70 for water and sewer. I've never lived anywhere with that high of a bill. That sometimes exceeds our electric bill! Everytime we talked to the office, they were always "working on it" but almost a year later, there is still no finite resolution. To top it all off, the water is shut off, it seems like, every two weeks to fix some main or the other. So not only are we paying an arm and a leg for water, it's not always available.
Parking stunk as well. For our group of buildings, there were limited spots for over 20 apartments to share. That's at least 40 cars if each apartment has 2. That doesn't count if you have friends or guests over. Not fun if you work a second shift job, comehome at 11:30 and have to park around the block from your residence.
The playground is a dug-up mess that doesn't look to be fixed anytime in the near future, and you're lucky if the equipment works in the workout room.
We had some good experiences with this place, but did end up breaking our lease. We were ready to get out and move on.
For the price, it's an ok option, but there are much better ones nearby...
