THIS PLACE SUCKS!!

I just moved in 1 month ago and I'm already looking to break my lease.
I'll start by saying that I drove 6 hours from Georgia on my move in day. Once I arrived I was given the keys and pointed into the direction of my apartment. Upon opening the door, it was quick to see that the unit had not been cleaned since the last tenant left. There was crap all over the floor, about 40 dead bugs in the fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen, the shower was nasty, the toilet had not been flushed and was filled with crusted over diarrhea and the laundry room smelled like sewage. I mentioned this to the person in the office, and was told the apartment would be cleaned within the next 3 hours. 3 HOURS!! It needed paint, carpet cleaning, and a ton of scrubbing. I ended up calling the corporate office to complain. Only then was real action taken to my satisfaction.
Not to mention, the next door neighbors were moving out as I was moving in. Who made it a point to warn me about break-ins, mice and bugs. Apparently their unit had been subject to 3 attempted break-ins over the past year. All you had to do was look at the damage on their door to know they were speaking the truth. What a great first impression!
Some of the other neighbors are quite scary! On my first night I noticed one of the thuggish neighbors drinking one can after another from a case of beer. Nothing really wrong with that, until I leave my apartment at 6AM the following morning only to find him passed out on the floor of the breezeway next to his apartment. Also, within my first week of being in the unit I received a notice on the door about a stabbing in the complex, but not to fear - those people were being evicted!
When I signed my lease I was given $400 dollars off the first full months rent. Surprisingly, this complex sends you a bill for rent due. When I received the bill, guess what' The $400 credit was nowhere to be found. According to the lady in the office, the bill was inaccurate and the $400 credit would go toward the first month. So the first months rent is due, I write a check for the amount - minus the $400 as agreed... five days later I get a notice on my door threatening eviction if I don't remit the remaining balance within 5 days. Again, I return to the office. Apparently, my conversation just a week earlier had been completely forgotten by the inept leasing consultant. Who personally filled out the threatening letter and remarked that she thought it was odd that I had only made a partial payment. After reminding her of our conversation from just a week prior she said it would be taken care of and that it was her mistake. So my fingers are currently crossed that everything is actually resolved.
I've never lived at a place that has such scummy looking people around and such a completely incompetent office staff. I had previously lived in Bellevue for 10 years it is a FANTASTIC area of town. How this complex can be so crappy is beyond my comprehension, especially when you look at everything that surrounds it.
So, seriously AVOID THIS PLACE!! Anywhere else in Bellevue is a billion times better!

I would like the number to corporate if you have it! I lived there last year for just a month when a family emergency came up & i had to move out of state back home. I tried to explain the situation to the manager but she would not let me out of my lease so I set up a payment plan to pay back the debts owed for the remainder of my lease. I made a couple payments of what money I had left & called saying I was currently unemployed but would commence payments when I got a job again. Well like you- they must have forgot that conversation because turns out they have reported it as a collection item to the credit bureau- drastically lowering my credit score!!! I have sent several checks in effort to make payments & they wont cash them. Ive been trying to call the manager for 6 months to figure out whats going on & I keep getting told she'll call me back but she hasnt yet. I dont know what to do anymore. How can they report me as not paying if they are unwilling to accept my payments?

Krystal,
Funny you should mention that you quit making payments on an agreement the staff was nice enough to make for you to avoid the legal costs of breaking abinding lease. It is only fair that they turn over non payments to be collected .Are they seriously suppose to take your 'word' that you will pay after breaking your original legal agreement?? By the way I am sure the corporate office would love to hear from you.. be sure to update your address ! www.allianceresidential.com look up the phone number on there since you are online anyways

Corporate is worse than the actual office. Their number is 713-977-1120 and the regional office is 972-233-9941.

I'm about to ask to break my lease. I'm not willing to negotiate to pay them. THEY are the ones that have not gone according to their own lease. And, I work for a quite LARGE law firm in Nashville. I'm not afraid of their scum-bag slum-lord client. But the phone number thins has really got me scratching my head. The 713 number is in Houston and isn't the 972 number in Southern California? I'm beginning to thing that we need as many as possible to complain to the Tennessee Fair Housing Bureau!
