What is it with this place''

I am currently looking for an apartment in this area and do check apartmentratings.com for user reviews. Ths place seems to have the worst ratings in the Bellevue area. From people posting crime reports to the tenants being chided for not joining a neighborhood watch.
I personally would not want to live in an apartment community that expects me to actively take part in a neighborhood watch to protect their property. It seems to me that an apartment complex can reduce crime by screening tenants better.
Sorry, I'm not a resident and posting about this place anyway. I just felt I had to comment on some of these reviews. Is it even tenants posting the "positive" reviews' I can't see happy tenants who live there lingering around all day at apartment ratings.com to counter negative post with a positive one. Very strange!
I think I'll keep clicking on through to other apartments. Thanks anyway! AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

As someone who works in the apartment business, I am amused by the idea that renters think that we can screen applicants to make sure that "that type of people" won't live there. That would be a violation of fair housing laws. If the people that live there meet credit and criminal requirements than they are not only allowed to live there but they are protected by law to be able to. There is no screening that can deny someone who is dirty, low class, or hasn't been caught for anything yet. To blame the management for the "type of people" who live there is ignorant. You can, however, blame them if they do not respond to the problems. What the staff at Bellevue Heights is doing seems like a pretty reasonable response to the problem. I'm sure most of them do not live on site and don't see what happens at night. It is up to the people who live there to let them know who is doing what. If the residents don't than nothing can get done. And for those that think that I work at Bellevue Heights I do not, although I did work at that property about 4 years ago. For those that may remember me, my name is Matt.

Well Matt... you seem like a smart guy since you find it amusing that a complex can't keep "that type of people out" Please, with your wisdom, explain to everyone here why the problems at this complex are not also happening at EVERY OTHER complex in the immediate area?
How come when I talk to people who live at Iroquois, Wyndchase, Waterford Place, The Lakes of Bellevue, and The Crossings... NONE of them have anywhere near as many complaints??
I am sick of management and former management coming on to these boards trying to justify why none of the problems here are their fault. If you have crappy people working in the office, the complex becomes crappy too.
For anyone looking here to rent a place in Bellevue, I encourage you to take a look at the other communities I listed on Apartment Ratings. Sure, they also have some complaints.. but not nearly as many or as venomous as the ones Bellevue Heights gets.

Where ever "anonymous" got their info on the other apts around this area, you were very ill informed! I lived in Iroquios and not only was our apt basically condemned because of a mold infestation, the office acted like they were doing us a favor by renting to us. There was also a raping while I lived there- Do you think there staff could have prevented that? NO! Okay- The Crossings has had multiple shootings, and I know this because a childhood friend of mine got murdered there. Do you think the staff had control over a drug deal gone bad? NO! Everyone need to stop pointing fingers and racially profileing our apartment complex because TSU students go there! I guess you think someone that chooses to get an education deserves to be stereotyped or profiled? NO! I know that was not refered to in this review, but I wanted to bring attention to that remark! Its disgusting! This is not a gated community and is not Section 8! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!! Unless you own a home in the country I suggest everyone go get a hand gun carrying permit this day in age!!! And everyone quit blaming the office staff!!

Hey Livinlife23,
Maybe you should socialize with a higher class of people. I've never had a childhood friend murdered, I've not known anyone who has been raped, I've never been the victim of a violent crime. When you hang out with scumbags, violence and crime ensues. If you don't hang out around those types of people, there is FAR LESS violence and crime in your life. I'm tired of scumbags coming on here and defending crime rates. Just because your life is full of crime and violence, doesn't mean everyone else's is! I also love how you mention that the office shouldn't be responsible for drug deals gone wrong.. Who cares if drug deals go wrong or right?? The simple solution is DON'T HANG OUT WITH DRUG DEALERS! Try getting new friends who aren't criminals, you will be AMAZED at how much the crime around you drops.
And yes, There are better complexes in the area. Although I'm guessing that you are another one of the office staff pretending to be a tenant again. Because we all know happy tenants spend all of their free time at ApartmentRatings.com defending bad reviews. Right Tammy???

Matt -- i understand how you have an educated stance on the current state of this property since you worked there 4 years ago. I lived there for a year and a half and had trouble the entire time i lived there. I always paid rent on time and never had any complaints called in. the entire management team was fired halfway through living there and the new staff wasnt any better. When i moved out i was told that part of my security deposit was earmarked towards cleaning the unit. Now that i work in real estate i know this is illegal. you can't earmark security deposits for normal wear and tear. also, to the toolbag responding to livinlife, you don't have to be around violent people to have violent crimes happen to you. my wife was raped as a child. they lived out in the country and didnt have a neighbor for miles around. a 4 year old can't choose their babysitter
bottom line ...... this property isn't managed at all and is a horrible place to live.
