Got it all wrong

I don't know what the circumstances were with the other reviewers, but I haven't witnessed any of those incidents since I've been here.
The office staff is very nice, getting to know not only your face, but also your name and apartment number as soon as you walk into the office for assistance. There are three very sweet hispanic ladies who are almost always working and two caucassian ladies who are just as nice. There was one lady who had horrific personal relation skills, but I noticed she didn't last but a week anyway.
The grounds are kept as clean as possible, considering these are very old apartments, by a nice oriental gentlemen. He is always saying hello when greeted and is quick to give a smile. He even goes through the apartment buildings themselves. As I am home most of the week, I either see or hear him working outside my apartment building, ensuring that everything is in neat order.
The maintanence staff is just as friendly, consisting of two hispanic gentlemen who speak excellent English and a French sounding gentleman. All three are quick to respond to any problem that can be remedied without the assistance of outside help, like Carrier coming to fix the big AC units outside the buildings. One of them is also usually present in the office, so if there is a problem you need to report, they are able to get to you right away.
I have personally only had two calls about my apartment, both concerning the older AC units, only one of which I had to wait a day over because it was very hot and it seemed like everyone else's AC was on the fritz as well.
I don't know what issues spring up in other units, but our hot water has never gone out, most definitely not for days on end. Since the lines are some of the first installed in the area and haven't been upgraded yet, Comcast does experience some depixelization on digital cable, but most of the time it corrects itself in a matter of seconds. A lot of the residents have satellite dishes.
The only draw back I have experienced since living here over the last year has been the lack of mailboxes. New units have been installed in the buildings, but the Post Office hasn't arrived to put the locks on them yet. It is kind of a pain to have to go to the office for my mail, but I am content to know that my FedEx packages and regular parcel mail is kept in a locked room of the office where no one but management can get to it.
As for the apartment itself, the appliances are a little old, but our unit has a fireplace, ceiling fans and central air. In the summer on exceptionally hot days, we have the AC, ceiling fan, and a stand alone fan going, but it is enough to be comfortable. I do wish that the cable was run through more than just the living room.
Since I have lived here, I have also noticed the types of people coming in are much more courteous and diligent about their living conditions. Occassionally, someone will have a party and there will be no parking that night and beer bottles around the next morning, but the grounds keeper is very good to clean it up right away.
It is, for the most part, very quiet now as opposed to when we first moved in when it seemed as if all our neighbors had twenty loudspeakers aimed at our apartment. And even though it isn't the best part of town, there are police present on M'boro road every night and a duty officer residing in the complex. Although, a word of warning to future tenants, watch out for the duty officer. He likes to get into new tenants business and is rather rude at times. It took us almost three months to get him to leave us alone.
Overall, if I weren't moving out of state when my lease is up in May, I'd probably stay here. They take large dogs, which fit my needs well, and there is a large grassy area for dogs and playground for children to run around and play.

Original poster responding to first message: The nice staff and maintenance crew has disappeared. The tenants are getting better, but the apartments are not. Before we left, the apartment had a horrible smell that was a combination of mold/mildew, trash, and urine. Half the burners on the stove went out along with the dishwasher and were not replaced. Apartments that were vacated had new carpet, but no upgrades were made to ones that were already leased. Hot water disappeared and we had to boil water to wash dished and take baths. Water was even turned off a couple times from when office's parent company didn't pay bill. Witnessed the Nashville PD Crime Unit come out to the apartment across the street, along with the fire department coming out multiple times for false alarms. Calling the police on rowdy tenants was a waste of time. Seen businesses either close or burn down. Area of town is really becoming seedy and dangerous. Glad moved away to new, better maintained apt. |
