My parents have lived at Country Place/Bradford Woods for almost 11 years and I've lived there about 9 of those years. Just recently, I leased a two bedroom for 9 months and have had problems ever since moving in at the beginnin gof July 2005. My kitchen was gutted out for a week and a half due to a leak in the pipes on my floor (bottom floor). I've had to call the office countless times to have my carpet dried and cleaned for water coming out of various places. I understand that these are old buildings but it's rediculous. I'm currently there and just gave my 30 day notice as I have had it with the maintenance issues of the apartment. My rent is $615 a month. When I signed my lease, I was given a special rate of $100 off the first 5 months of rent, making my rent $515/mo up to December. In order to get out of my lease early, I have to pay a fee of $350, one months rent PLUS the $500 dollars for the $100 off for five months. I asked to have the $350 waived for all the problems we've had, thinking that was fair because I though about asking for the $500 waived as well, but I was told that they could not waive any of the fees. Again, I think that in all fairness considering the problems we've had that at least the $350 should be waived but apparently management doesn't agree. Also, I was offered to be moved into a different apartment with my rent "reduced" to $515/mo, which isn't really a reduction. I am very unhappy with my experience at this community. As I mentioned, my parents have been residents for 11 years but that doesn't seem to hold any weight. As a whole, I'm not comfortable there. Residents loiter outside the main entryways and on sidewalks. Most of these are men and as a single female it makes me very uncomfortable to have several pairs of eyes following my every move every time I walk outside my apartment. Action has been taken on that account, however I still feel uneasy walking out on the property. I have no complaints with the management and leasing staff; it's just these main issues. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

You sound kind of like a cry baby. If you say that you had lived there for 9 years, then why is the guys staring at you a huge surprise? Have you ever thought that maybe you were the only piece of entertainment given at that time. Asking for all that money to be waived is ridiculous. Your rent was $615 so when they offered to give you another apartment for $515, yes dummy, that was a reduction because it would last for more than your special. Have you ever had plumbing issues? Clearly not because that means that the apts had to contract with a plumber and that means that they will do everything as fast as they want. Don't write reviews that are dumb. Thank you- A loving new tenant

Well, happyrenter, you must work for the apartment complex because, if you were to read what she wrote then you might realize you are the "dummy". First, she lived with her parents most of the 9 years, she "just recently" leased a two bedroom. So, she isn't living in the same apartment, which probably means that the guys who live in her building don't live in the same building as her parents, unless they are stunt doubles. That would mean that these eyes have been staring her down for 4 months now. I know the math is hard, but stick with me. How old are you?? 18, 19?? Do you have furnature?? Do you know what water does to furnature?? And, if she has had to call someone repeatedly to clean her carpets, that probably means that her apartment stinks of mildew as well. Ever had to move all your stuff into a different apartment or do you still live with your mother?? Seeings how she has a two bedroom apartment, she probably has quite a few belongings. Not very easy for anyone to move on their own. Now, continuing the discount on the apartment is a nice jesture, but for having only been in the apartment for 4 months and they only want to offer that little of a discount...I can see why there might be a problem. Happyrenter, I', sorry that the rest of the world has higher standards for their apartments. Thank you for being satisfied with mediocrity. - a person who just wants to be treated with decency

I realize that these responses took place over two years ago but I HAVE to reply to "happyrenter9357". You see, I am the original writer of the review and I need to clarify some things that Happy seemed to have misinterpreted (BTW, thanks for your understanding, frog22) with my review. I don't know if Happy is even living at BW anymore and if he/she is then maybe they will have come to see how it REALLY is after two years. I will give Happy the benefit of the doubt and say that it's difficult to know where someone is coming from or to interpret their tone and meaning just by reading some words. I will say that Happy should not be so quick to judge when they don't know a person, have never met them and more than likely (thankfully) will never meet them. You don't know the situation. I was NOT being a crybaby. I was born and raised in a family that had next to nothing and I am not a person to be so highmaintenance and demanding as you apparently thought I was. However, because of my meager upbringings, I want and APPRECIATE the better things in life. I'm not asking for a castle on a pauper's salary (I'm hardly a pauper but just to make a point, humor me) but the thing is that you get what you pay for and if it means me having to shell out a little extra dough to live in a place that is clean, quiet, respectable and where you can rely on the apartment staff then so be it. I WILL NOT spend my hard earned money on a DUMP! So forgive me Happy if I prefer to have what I believe EVERY American is entitled to, a decent way of life. Also, when I move into an apartment community or any place for that matter I do not move there with the intent on being anyone's "entertainment", as you so eloquently put it. I'm not some "piece" of anything that was put here on this earth for the sole purpose of entertaining anyone. I don't have a career in entertainment so there's no reason for all eyes to be on me. Neither am I a piece of meat for people to stare and grovel over and for the record I do not dress in any way that would draw such kind of attention to myself. Would you like that kind of attention? Maybe you do so you'd be right at home there. As for the reduction in rent, NO it was not a reduction because HELLO I was already paying $515!!! So what if it was going to be for the remainder of my lease! Hardly any consolation when I didn't have a kitchen for two weeks and my carpets kept getting wet! And apparently you didn't realize the gravity of the situation with the kitchen. You didn't read the part where I said that my kitchen was "gutted out", meaning I had no kitchen because the floor was literally ripped up in order to take care of the "plumbing problem". We had no sink, could not even walk into the kitchen because it was completely blocked off. Once again, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you just didn't know any better. So that is why you shouldn't make snide comments without knowing the full situation. In your own words, don't write reviews (or responses) that are dumb. Moving on to the fees, I would have LOVED to request the $350 to be waived as well as not to have paid the $500 back but if you would pay attention I said, and I quote myself here "...I think that in all fairness considering the problems we've had that at least the $350 should be waived" Key words here: "AT LEAST" I didn't think that's asking for much and I still don't. A deposit fee is paid when someone moves into a residence with the anticipation of any damages that the TENANT may incur. If said tenant damages anything, they receive no refund. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO MAKE MY KITCHEN SINK BACKUP OR CAUSE ANY OF THE WATER TO SEEP UP INTO MY CARPETS!!! Therefore, it's only fair that my deposit be refunded since those were not problems that I caused. Come on, Happy, think about it. Lastly, I actually wrote an extensive letter to the apartment management EXPLAINING (and, yes, complaining because I believe in great customer service) my reasons for breaking my lease early. I explained that I was extremely UNHAPPY with my experience at BW, listed everything that happened and felt that I was not given a fair shake in the whole deal. Do you think they even acknowledged my correspondence? Not so much. What kind of place is that that they will not even acknowledge the complaint of a customer?!! So yes, I would NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES recommend that ANYONE live at this place. You can continue being a "happyrenter" at BW, no thanks for me. Unfortunately, my parents continue to live there just because it's easier to stay than to find a new place at their age. I do encourage them to find a new place as often as I can. I hope you really are happy with your BW experience but I have a gut (just like my kitchen was gutted) feeling that you are not. If you are, more power to you and all's well that ends well. Just proves Frog22's point that you are satisfied with mediocrity, actually less than mediocrity. I don't know if you'll ever read this or not. For all I know, you've woken up and moved on to bigger and better things. I just felt that I needed to make my voice heard again after all this time and defend my stand. But just to stress this to you (and any other closed minded individual who may read this), don't talk about something you don't have the first clue about. You don't know me, never will know me so don't put labels (crybaby, dummy) on me when you have no idea who I am as a person. Thank you-An UNLOVING EX-TENANT.
