Poor insulation, thin walls, but not a total slum

I have lived at Brandywine since moving to Nashville almost three years ago. As other tenants noted, be ready to deal with bugs -- spiders, beetles, sometimes roaches come for a visit even if you are a clean freak like me. Once I nearly died of fright when I found a centipede hanging out in my bathtub. Maintainance requests usually take a few times to get resolved. The apartments seem poorly insulated. Air leaks in around my door (I can see light from outside all around the door). This has resulted in high heating bills for me. You can also hear your neighbors quite clearly -- the lady next door to me coughs all night, the couple across the way fights loudly, and my upstairs neighbor must stomp around alot. I've also yet to figure out why there is only one phone jack in my entire 1 bedroom apartment. The staff has generally been friendly and good to work with, helping me when I locked my keys to my apartment in my car (but if you do this after hours, be prepared to call a locksmith. The maintainance crew, even if the live in the complex, will not come help you if its after hours or the weekend.) Also, even though I resigned my lease three times, the rent actually went up twice, even though no large improvements had been made and no explanation for the price hike was given. All said, I've generally liked living at Brandywine, mostly for its location and the ease of getting on the interstate. I'm definitely considering other options when my lease comes up.
