Stealing Your Money Because of Their Error

I had just rented an apartment with Brandywine and had agreed on a move in date. I of course had paid my application fee and deposit prior to moving in. I showed up on the agreed upon date with all of my stuff ready to move in. I traveled about an hour and a half and was completely moved out of my old apartment. I get to Brandywine and we go over the lease, I pay my first month's rent, and then she goes to get me the keys. She couldn't find the keys so she went up to the apartment to see why the keys weren't there. She comes back to tell me that the apartment was still being remodeled and I wouldn't be able to move in for a week and that we would just do a new lease starting on that day instead. When I asked how this could of happened I was given the response that several things have been falling through the cracks because they were understaffed. So now I have no place to stay and I have all my stuff ready to move in. I was highly pissed. They never even attempted to call me to let me know that I wouldn't be able to move in on that date. I went and found another place to live. When I asked about my deposit with Brandywine, I was told they couldn't give it back because I had been approved. So because of their error they are keeping my deposit. I would advise everyone to think twice before moving here.

Hi Chris, sorry to read of your troubles at Brandywine. I too was victimized there. Please read my story, "Liars And Thieves" from March of 2005 on this site. To this day I still make sure to tell everyone not to move there. I think in your case, you should go after your money in court, report them to the BBB and whatever other agencies you can think of. I can also tell you from experience that you are much better off not to have moved there. You'd have lost so much more if you did. Good luck with everything. Aldo
