Brixworth

Good Location From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 7/3/2002 Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002   Weve lived here for one year while I went to grad school at Vanderbilt. We selected Brixworth over the internet and its a pretty good, not great, place to be. The location is excellent if you need to be in town - right on West End/70S/Harding and two minutes to 440 (although its across from St Thomas hospital and down the road from the fire station - expect more than average sirens, but nothing too bad). The insulation from outside noise is really pretty good. We havent had too much of a problem with noise from neighbors - you cant hear average folks, but we do have a stomper upstairs and that can be annoying - depends on your neighbors, but they need to be extra loud to be heard through ceiling or floor - no noise transfer wall-to-wall because there are few adjoining walls. We had the smaller of the one bedroom apartments - perfectly fine for one person, nice big walk-in closet, but its really cramped with two people. The kitchen is nice with a big center island. And then theres the porch...some balconies are a couple of yards from balconies across the way, others look out on the parking lot - it really depends on which apartment you get. The big problem with the balconies is THE HEAT PUMPS!!! Its absolutely too noisy to go sit on the balcony except for a few days in spring and fall when folks havent turned on air conditioner or heat. The pool is great, as long as you dont mind being right next to the road. Well used on weekends, but relatively empty during the week. The grounds are OK - lots of trees around so you feel like youre set back in more of a neighborhood. Nice walking roads behind the property. In living here for a year, we havent really found anything with this good of a location that we would rather have for the same money.
