Dear Eager apartment searchers,
I have been a resident of the Gazebo Apartments at 141 Neese Drive for three years and would like to transmit some valuable information to you. First, and foremost, do not and I repeat, do not move into Gazebo. When I first encountered Gazebo it appeared great! I was a newlywed finishing up a degree at one of the universities in Nashville. I was young and did not do my homework before I committed to a 12 month lease. The 12 months went by pretty smoothly and so I renewed. Unfortunately, it went down hill from there. During the hottest months of the year, and a heat wave to boot, my air conditioning unit malfunctioned, leaving my husband, my dog, and myself with no adequate means of cooling off during the evening hours. However, maintenance fixed the air the next day, or so we thought. The unit broke 3 additional times, and each time we had to fight to get the cooling unit fixed. However, for convenience we renewed believing that the worst had passed.
Unfortunately, we had been mistaking. During the last and final year we had witnessed several crimes outside our apartment, the most vivid being that which someone was intentionally hit by a moving vehicle. Additionally, while I was walking my dog during the evening hours , I was cornered by two males who were in a dark SUV. They yelled at me and attempted to corner me further, but luckily I was able to escape by running as fast as I could to my apartment. Needless to say, I no longer walk my dog alone, no matter if what time it is in the day, morning, evening, or night.
Also, during the same (and last year) the air conditioning went out again during the summer months. This year it was a particularly troublesome situation; since, during the year, I was diagnosed with a chronic condition that is aggravated by the heat. During the night time hours we no longer had cool air in our apartment and the thermometer was breaching 100 degrees f. Subsequently, we called for emergency maintenance, but no one showed. The policy on the contract states that, it is considered an emergency if the air conditioning stops working and it's 75 degrees or hotter outside . Clearly, it was. In fact, it was 93 that evening. My husband faithfully called every hour until we were able to contact the manager of the facility. The manager was able to get a hold of the maintenance person who was on duty. He directly called us and explained that he would not come out. After we told him about my condition and how I was completely incapable of moving due to the heat he did concede and finally showed up at 3 in the morning. He took the unit a part and left. He did not fix it. That night we slept on the balcony in order to escape from heat that was building up within the apartment. However, outside was not much better at 89 degrees. My husband missed work the next day because he had to take care of me. I had gotten so ill that he had to escort me out of the apartment so that I could recuperate. The unit had been fixed by the time we returned, but the whole ordeal should never have taken place.
Nevertheless, management did nothing, and explained it away by stating that the air conditioning unit was the oldest one on site; that there was really nothing that they could do (not even replace it). However, management did apologize for the 'inconvenience'.
The moral of the story is DO NOT RENT FROM GAZEBO. You will go to a place of misery and torment if you were to disregard my warning. Yes, I am still here and counting off the days until my lease expires. Please investigate any place you go to. Read reviews thoroughly, and check the area out before you commit to something as important as where you will create your home. I wish only the best for you eager apartment seekers!
Sincerely,
Waiting for my release day
