Coming from the Seattle area, rents in Tennessee seem dirt cheap, so we have no complaints about our rent (3 BR for $899). I can't really speak to how rent is compared to other places in the area, but are getting a better deal now than the apartment we lived in just before this one in Nashville.
The grounds, while generally pretty nice, are slowly losing their luster due to irresponsible pet owners who refuse to pick up after their pets. There are some patches of grass that you literally have to tiptoe through in order to not step in poo. We pretty much stick to the sidewalks and asphalt, but even the sidewalks now have footprints of doggie doo in them from where some unfortunate soul stepped in a surprise and didn't realize it.
The other major problem with this place is the infestation of ladybugs. I have complained numerous times to the office about this and they refuse to do anything about it (even though they acknowledge that the infestation is complex-wide and we get billed for pest control on our utility bill!). There were literally hundreds of ladybugs that gathered on the inside of our porch. It was disgusting. Not a day goes by that my wife and I do not see at least 10 dead ladybugs that have made their way inside our home. I guess that tells you something about how well the windows and doors are sealed.
They are pretty weird about package delivery here. During the week of Christmas, the office refused to accept packages for people! What is the deal with that' Why would they refuse packages during the week when people are most likely to receive them'!'! We didn't receive one package we were sent over Christmas and are still working with UPS to try to figure out what happened to it.
The staff is friendly, but they seem to make promises they can't keep. They tell you what you want to hear, but don't always follow through. When we were looking at moving in, we were told that they would check on certain things and get back to us. We never received one return phone call and always had to follow-up ourselves. We were also told that a certain provision of our lease could be changed slightly, which turned out not to be the case (after we had already given notice and made plans to move out of our other place and had nowhere else to go!).
The actual living space is pretty decent. Our apartment is plenty roomy. If you are a student who needs a place to live in Nashville for just a few years before moving on to bigger and better things, I would recommend living here. I probably wouldn't be able to stand living here much longer than the little over a year until our lease expires.
