I was *promised* a specific apartment when I first put down my application fees. Turned out Scott's "promise" didn't hold and the apartment I wanted was given to somebody else. Not good. Sales people...
Anyway it was too late to cancel. Still moved in into another apartment (not as good view).
The apartment complex itself is okay. Not great but okay. Not too many trees since it's fairly new construction.
For the price (about $800 for a 1 bedroom appartment) I would expect something better though. Only one swimming pool.
The lease agreement is *very* rough: 90 days move out notice is required (yeah, that's 3 months!). You can't choose your own internet / cable TV provider and *have* to go with Prime Home Entertainment. Internet access goes down occasionally and there is no technical support outside normal business hours. Comcast is not available. The cable TV bill is added directly to your monthly rent bill. If you break the lease (which I didn't), you still have to give 3-month notice plus pay 1 month as penalty, and are still liable to pay thru the remaining part of the lease (it's stated in the contract, although to be fair I don't know if this is enforced).
Upon renewal time, if you don't respond immediately, the new given rates go up without further notice (no drop dead date was indicated). I found another 1 bd apartment somewhere else with brand new carpet / paint / appliances / 30 days move out notice less than 10 minutes away, lots of trees, 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, covered parking, quiet and cheaper.

Would you mind giving the name of the other apt complex you discovered? Might help anyone else who's feeling agitated about Hickory Point.

I concur, I lived there and had so many maintenance slips I lost count. Thought with being new the walls would be more sound proof and the apartment would be more energy efficient. Turns out the contractors (according to the maintenance guys) put the units in the wrong place in the 2 & 3 bedroom apartments and it causes a problem with air flow which creates high electric bills to keep the temperature regulated in the apartments. They said the 1 bedroom didn't have that problem, of course I didn't have a 1 bedroom so I had high electric bills. The noise level from surrounding neighbors was alarming, I could hear them singing in the shower, knew their precise location throughout the entire apartment, could tell when they used the restroom, washed clothes and dishes. I broke my lease, turned in a 3 month notice in which Scott told me my apartment would be released fast because it was desirable so I wouldn't have to wait the entire 3 months, turns out I did because my apartment was not released, and I had to pay the month termination fee. The security gate was a joke, not to mention the slowest gate to open I have ever seen, allowed 3-4 cars to shoot in behind you. The internet was out often with difficulty getting the issues resolved not to mention the cable tv had no menu channel so you would have to flip through each channel to see what was on, what a pain it was. All because they had to be the middle man to get their cut and not allow tenants to choose their own service. I would rate my experience THUMBS DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
