I moved in summer 2002 and am currently looking for a house and intend to break my lease. The ads hype up the place (with the large apts and the fact it was remodeled in 2001, apparently only exterior) and the exterior does draw you in, but it is not worth it.
The townhomes are 2005 sq ft, 3 levels and rent about $1200/mo. Examples of the problems are:
--very old appliances; microwave hardly works
--our heater was taped togther w/ electrical tape. Heating bills for Nov. 2002 was $285; for Dec. 2002 $313. NES history shows previous residents paid over $400 for month of Dec. in 2001. But, according to NES, our neighboring apt's bill was far less so you may luck out. Apt will tell you bills are "reasonable."
--very drafty (ok in summer; intolerable in winter)
--unsure where the water comes from; definitely not city water and appears to be well water as occaisionally comes out orange.
--drippy faucets; sometimes notice major drop in water pressure; usually water pressure is good.--mildew in bathrooms; notice orange staining from water.
--mold issues (we had to sign toxic mold "acknowledgement" forms indicating possible presence of toxic mold). We had mold issues but a home kit indicated our mold was only allergenic, not toxic.
--wall studs very noticeable; painted sloppily.
--maintenance responds in 24-48 hours but problems do not go away.
--if it snows when you live there, have a good snow car as drive is very steep; maintenance is good about periodically shoveling the snow.
