I lived in Knollwood from 1995-1996 and loved it. I lived in Knollwood from 2005-2006 and was appalled at their condition. We moved in to an apartment that had dog urine and feces all over it (I cleaned it up myself, because I didin't have the heart to make the cleaning lady come back in after I found out she vomited outside the first time she cleaned). My allergies were going crazy and we kept telling management there was animal hair in the apartment. Management said the apartment had been cleaned and the carpet replaced. We had our first major leak (we had many) the carpet was pulled up and there was dog hair, dog food, and dog excrement under the "new carpet". We had been there a month. We were told to change apartments. Karen "the liar" hired someone to move us and they did not complete the job, they got drunk instead. We took two more days to move a three bedroom townhome ourselves (my husband and I). The new apartment flooded from a pipe under the sink and there were multiple leaks from the water heater. The worse thing was a leak in our bedroom ceiling caused by a thing on the roof that had not been cleaned out by maintenace. My matress was ruined and I was told by corporate they would do nothing for us. The ceiling in the bedroom had to be replaced and the Hispanic gentlemen that came to replace it spoke no English. This would not have been a problem, but the ceilings in Knollwood are aesbestos. I tried to tell them they could not tear out my ceiling with out abatement equipment, but they did not understand and did it any way. Aesbestos was all over my bed my funiture and my clothes. I was told by and abatement company that everything in my apartment was contaminated and had to be thrown away. I called Karen and corporate and Helen at corporate yelled at me. I decided to call the health department. They immediatly came out and were denied entrance to any apartments by mamagement. I invited them into mine. The health department took samples from all over my apartment for testing and all of them came back positive for aesbestos. Knollwood was in VIOLATION and did not care that they had exposed me, my husband, an 8 yr old, a 5 yr old, and a 1yr old to aesbestos. This is the worst apartment complex in Nashville and I didn't even address the brown recluse spiders, mold, and multiple bugs and creatures in these apartments. Please keep your family healthy and stay away from Knollwood (865 Bellevue)!!!!

I was not aware of the asbestos issue at 865 when I moved in earlier this year. Since I have an asthmatic/deathly allergic child (allergic to grass - if one can imagine), and I myself suffer from acute bronchial/sinus problems, I will have to check into this issue some more. Also, the bug complaint rings true - the first night my family moved in, one child woke up completely covered in bites/hives and itched like crazy; no one could explain what was in the brand new apartment that was causing this problem. The new "security gate" is also of interest because my question is: How exactly does one secure a property via two gates when the surrounding sides are completely open for anyone to walk through as they see fit? It would seem to me that a "gated" community means exactly that - you can only access it via a gate and certainly that isn't true of 865 as it currently stands. I am also a little troubled by how significantly the rents have risen relative to the installation of the "security" gate. I'm really not sure that the increases are warranted and I am somewhat uncomfortable with that rate of increase. It seems almost criminal - after all, this is Bellevue, not Belle Meade or Green Hills.
The staff has been gracious so I truly do not have anything to say in that respect. Besides, it has generally been my modus operandus to complain and/or request as little as possible where ever I live. I only ask when it is absolutely necessary.
Let me clarify this response by indicating that I happened upon these comments entirely by chance while searching for something else entirely so I am not looking to complain about anything, neither am I supporting any particular point of view. My response is intended to be relatively objective (if one can be entirely that) and should be viewed as such.
Thank you
