you enjoy being lied to, dealing with rude, completely unprofessional management, loud and illegal immigrants renovating all around you, and you don't use water daily. to begin with we were, not only misled, but completely LIED to by the management. we were directly told we could have cable in our bedrooms, untrue. we were told the bath tub was brand new, untrue- it's just been very sloppily re cocked. when we moved in august 2007 we were told all renovations would be finished by the fall of 2007 (including apartments, pools, and work out facility)... let's see- they are still renovating apartments, the pools were finished at the end of this summer (2008), and the work out facilities were finished about 2 months ago. they then tried to raise our rent by almost 200 dollars when we reluctantly resigned our lease, to avoid moving fees and other fees, as we plan on buying in less than a year. when we approached them about these outrageous prices, especially considering all the renovations being done, ------(the IDIOT "manager") told us it was out of her hands... excuse me' i thought you were the manager. we ended up having to negotiate with a middle man about our rent. the middle man tried to say there was nothing they could do about it, so we told them "fine, then we will move on." to this they replied they could lower the rent, which is obviously because of their severe desperation to have the apartments filled, which is obviously because of how horribly this "community" is run. some other issues: the ice cream truck comes by every day before school is even let out, just for the mexican workers to get a snack... the workers are extremely loud and rude, and ILLEGAL. they renovate from 6am until well after 7pm every day, even on the weekends. right now we have all 3 apartments being renovated around us. they decided to paint and re ---- all 3 apartments in one day, and open all the doors and windows to fan out the fumes, which only pushed them up to our apartment. the workers were wearing masks, and just any masks, gas masks. the fumes were so strong i was worried for my toddler-aged daughter's safety. when we called ------to voice our concerns, she tried to convince us it was only a smell and no harm would be done. i don't know if she is just plain ignorant, or thinks she is a great manipulator, but either way, we are not idiots and don't deserve to be treated that way! did i mention that the man living below us died DAYS before we moved in and wasn't found in his apartment for 5 DAYS!!! the stench of death was so extreme, it leaked into our apartments, and caused all the workers who had to extract the body to vomit with sickness. the management never even contacted us, and when we contacted them, they were defensive as if they had no reason to contact us and notify us that the reason our apartment smelled was not from the carpet glue (their original plea) but from a dead man's body!! i am outraged at their behavior. the renovations are easily done in a few weeks as the illegal immigrants sloppily throw on some paint and new carpet... i have to dry my clothes for at least 2 cycles in the brand new dryer, because (this is just genius craftsmanship) the room left to put the washer/dryer is so small that it kinks up the hose and can not ventilate properly (this was personally explained to me by a member of maintenance), the last thing i will say is the fact that they turn the water off at least once a week, usually more often than that, for 3-5 hours at a time. how convenient! and yes, they charge for sewage and trash pick up, as if this was something extra we should be paying for, i have never experienced this in all my years of renting. on the very short ended plus side- the maintenance crew is friendly and knows how to fix things properly. hardly a reason to rent from this extremely overprices, shoddy, shady apartment complex.
on a side note: i'd be thrilled for the management to read this review and recognize who wrote it.

I agree!!!!!!!!! Living at Knollwood was the worst. We lived through the construction from 2006 until our 15 month lease ended. They do lie and that is why we left. I am surprised to hear ------is still there...how do people who suck at their jobs so bad keep them?

"on a side note: i'd be thrilled for the management to read this review and recognize who wrote it."
nobellevue865, I've come to find that management teams, realty organizations and, most critically, THE PROPERTY OWNERS THEMSELVES (the ones who hide their ownership behind the management companies) read the ratings here! I mean... Managers can hem and haw, duck and dodge all day long and not change anything. But when your thoughts show up HERE, and they are not good, THEN THEY PAY ATTENTION!! Thats because a bad rating here means money outta their pockets... the only TRUE way to get their attention!
I have posted both positive and negative ratings here. I know it works.
Good luck, nobellevue865 on your next apartment. If your next apartment is good OR bad, come back here and let us know. Thanks for your time!
