let me just say first, if you're looking for peace and quiet, get a house in the suburbs! if you're young, single, enjoy nightlife, and don't mind a little noise, this is the place! pluses: rent includes utilities/hardwood floors/unlimited hot water from big boiler downstairs/around the corner from the "rock block" including t.g.i. friday's, eclectic shops, live music, and other restaurants and bars. i could open my window at night and hear bands playing down on elliston!/just a few minutes from downtown./near major mta bus routes on elliston and west end/walking distance to tower records, chili's, and centennial park/old fashioned elevator with surprisingly pleasant smell of ozone and oil. minuses: parking is sometimes a challenge/we had to supply our own air conditioner (but ran it full on with no concerns of a high electric bill!)/can't control steam heat in cooler months. we kept windows open even in the dead of winter to balance the steam heat./no dishwasher.
