I feel so bad that I chose this apartment. They painted the outside but the inside is so bad. The apartment is more than 30 years old. Windows have too much rust that they cannot be open/close easily. Even the repairman told me that he had nothing to do with it. The humidity level is so high that mold and paradise are everywhere. When the apartment was empty the floor was quiet. However after we moved in all of our furnitures the floor started to make louder and louder noises. Even an adult can be waked up by the noise. There are too many smokers around making the environment not good for children. Dogs are barking almost everynight at 1 or 2 am. Water bills are unreasonablly high (close to $100) and keep increasing.
Office staff is rude and takes advantage of every of your minor mistakes.

I hope that you can get out ASAP. The crime there is getting worse every year. We had many incidents this summer, and the manager responded with threats and incinuations that the residents were responsible (hardly likely on a road where the new Harding Academy site was vandalized by gangs, many apartment complexes have been broken into, etc.) My advice is to either look into buying your first home (it's much more doable than you think!) or go to a nicer apartment, which are difficult to find around here (I have heard good things about Colonial Grand from a friend, though, or you can rent from a private individual by looking on craigslist.) I'm sorry you have to stay there, but don't feel bad, many of us have had to weather it and you will get out of the lease in time!

I lived in this complex for a couple of years until they raised the rent in 2005. I liked the location, great view on downtown from the pool, but I agree, the place is old, some of the appartments stink like tobacco smoke (I even had to move to a different unit within the complex: they told me that they will take care of the stink but they did'n). I liked the area - it is close to parks but nothing is in a walking distance. All negatives were balanced by a reasonable price but since they've done some cosmetic renovations they increased rent disproportionally.
