Madison has been a bitter experience since the day we got into our apartment. We inspected the house before getting into it and it was fine. When we started moving in our boxes, we noticed that the sink pipes were leaking and the whole carpet was wet and smelling. We were told that the problem cannot be fixed and were given another apartment to move into. The new apartment had other problems later on. Frequent leaks, breakages, inefficient heating system is a common problem. The buildings are old and have to be renovated to have good insulation. High electric bills ($300-450) looks like a common problem for most of the tenants during winter. No wonder why they offer a referral amount of $400-500 very often along with a free rent.
The leasing office staff are not too friendly. Every time a maintenance issue has been reported, they make a note of it but no action would be taken. On repeated requests a new person would pick the phone and would act as if they did not know of the complaint earlier. I don't know if they maintain any common file where they can track their maintenance issues as every time I complain they seem to write it down on a piece of paper which is either lost or trashed. I don't see much communication among the staff. The big boss will appear for critical settlements and will always try to use her managerial skills to hush you down. I never wanted to pick a quarrel with them, least they will screw me up more.
All they have is a very pretty exterior place (water fountains, gym, playing courts, etc) to woo you to be a tenant but the inside of the apartments are not as pretty imagined (except for the model house which will be on display). I highly recommend that you think twice before signing up a lease with Madison as the lease terms are also very rigid.
I bet all the good reviews for these apartments which are given on any site must be from the apartment staff as I know some of them live here. I also heard that the staff living here get better apartments and their issues will be given high priority by the maintenance staff and so they may not be experiencing hardships as the other residents.
All I can say is "Be wise in whatever you buy as you deserve good comfortable living for the price you pay". You deserve the best.
