Okay well first off let me start off by saying we signed our lease to ARCHSTONE BRENTWOOD after reading the reviews for archstone and visiting the site it was GREAT. The staff was on top of everything very organized and very helpful. -Fast Forward- One day I noticed that our signs were covered up outside of our apt complex....However I didn't think twice about it. Well undoubtedly Mission purchased this complex from archstone.
We never once received ANYTHING about the new owners, management. We had our acct online from archstone to automatically pay our monthly rent. I called the office and asked them if we would have to sign a new lease to the new owners or if anything had changed we needed to be aware of b/c OBVIOUSLY no one felt compelled to tell us anything. The then manager told me no everything would go on towards them no hassle. Sure no hassle....Well about the 10th of the month rolls around when our money is deducted out of our acct...nothing is deducted. SO on the 11th we go to the office to find out why. They tell my husband that our rent is late (UM obviously) and that we must now pay a LATE FEE. My husband explained we paid online automatically with archstone and had NEVER had a late fee in our whole time at archstone. This was their fault for not informing us about the change and letting us know how they wanted their money. So then my husband had to come home and get a check b/c all he had was cash on him. They were "kind enough" to not charge us the late fee as new management had taken over.
K fast forward again..a few months later. I receive packages quite regularly for my daughter. Well I wasn't home so fed-ex left a note on my door saying my package was delivered to the office. I got to the office - No package - or so they said. I call the next day....still no package. They blame it on the fed ex guy. I then call fed ex to see how i can find out WHO signed for the package. I go to the site and then call the office. The girl who SIGNED for the package answered the phone and explained that the fedex guy must have signed her name b/c she didn't sign for my package. Okay I get really upset and call the OWNER of mission brentwood. I explain how upset I am and how rude I was treated. He then says he's sorry and refers me to his regional person. WHO btw is as BAD as the girls in the office. Very flaky and didn't really care. She said she would personally cover the price of my package. WHICH I didn't want...I wanted my package. Well then I get a call a few days later saying they found my package. I go to the office....nope it's not there. I then say well why did you call me' Undoubtedly they HAD my package but someone delivered it to the WRONG apt. Then they tell ME to go to the apt it was delivered to and retrieve it. THERE is something wrong with them not going to get the package. So I go to the apt. No one is home. Go back to my apt and call them and they "found" the package. I got back and FINALLY RETRIEVE my package. After nearly 2 wks of manipulation and just out right rude behavior.
Fast forward AGAIN - One evening after my daughter is in bed i'm laying in bed and my husband asks me to come into the dining room. The ceiling was leaking onto the carpet. We immediately called maintenance. The fire dept had been testing the fire hydrants that day and some pipes/and hot water heaters were bursting. Well We turned off our water and had to wait for the next day. We spent the day at my inlaws and to return NOTHING was done. Then next day after that we went home for the night after they said the pipes weren't leaking and turned the water back on. We woke up the next morning to the leak. Finally We decide to spend a few days at my inlaws. I called EVERY day to check on our apt. The office NEVER once found the maintenance guy to ask him if it was ready. Finally a week later we returned on our own. the leak seemed to be gone so we came home and slept. The next morning no leak. But the ceiling had a hole in it where they had to cut to get to the pipes. We waited probably 2-3wks before this ceiling was repaired. I then had to take my daughter and spend the day out of the house AGAIN for them to repair the ceiling.
Fast forward more - Gave our 2 mths notice as required via lease. We are a day late with our rent and we are charged NEARLY $80. We were NEVER charged a late fee before this by archstone and we paid promptly every month to mission. However since we were moving I think they just would like to get as much out of us as possible.
Also during the time I lived there pieces of our building began to fall apart during storms. The outside of the building is rotting and termite ridden...also a few of the lights outside the large bulbs broke into pieces onto the ground and it wasn't picked up for months.
We have since moved OUT of mission...Our new apt is amazing. It's 5sq ft. bigger, $200 less a month for rent, the office staff is just AMAZING and the maintenance are on top of everything. You can pay your rent online, request maintenance online. It's a quiet community and we are SO happy to save money living somewhere 100 times better than mission brentwood. We would HAPPILY pay what we paid at mission brentwood HERE and there is no way i'd ever pay to live in mission brentwood...you couldn't pay ME to live there.
