I've lived here for 2.5 years, and I will be moving soon. The quality of living has declined dramatically over the last 6 - 8 months. A/C problems, payment issues, etc.
Here are a couple of things that have happened that make you wonder if anyone's in the wheelhouse:
As many have said, new management took over without a word to the tenants. No notice that the recurring payment system would be down permanently. The 5th comes and goes. I get a scud missle on my door demanding payment for rent in 2 days, paid in full. The letter states that collection / eviction procedures will follow should I not get payment to them by the deadline. 2 years and I've never been late, ever, and I get this "why are you a deadbeat'" letter' Are you kidding me'' No problem - I jog down to the office and pay up.
A month or so later, I was out of town for a while, come back in on the 4th, head straight to the office, and get my rent paid. I ask them specifically, "What's the total amount I owe, including water, etc." They give me the total, and I write my check. (Have I mentioned that I had not even received the water / utilities bill yet') 2 days later, another scud missle on my door. "You have a small balance on your account. Pay in two days or we will go to collections blah blah blah." The balance' <$3.00.
I'm all about paying my bills, so don't treat me like a deadbeat when I have gone out of my way to make payment in full. Stop treating your residents like deadbeats, and as if they have no choice but to live here. Perhaps a letter such as:
Dear Resident,
Due to an oversight, there appears to be a small balance remaining on your account. The amount of that balance is X. Please add this amount to next month's rent. Thank you for making Mission Brentwood your home.
That would make me feel valued and appreciated.
I bought a new vehicle. In the process, I took the old license off my old car so I could get the new vehicle home (before the temp tags were completed). I get a bright green sticker on my car saying that my car will be towed for lack of plates! Less than 24 hours and I get a warning about being towed! The sticker had the title "Final Notice." I guess first = final.
Perhaps its my building, but my power has been going out at LEAST 3 times / month, usually for 10 minutes or so. This morning it went out 3 times in a row! If you are going to consider living here, you better have a serious UPS for your computer or live in the stone ages.
There's construction taking place behind my apartment. They blast... alot... It shakes things in the apartment when they detonate a charge.
At times this has been a great place to live, but I think that time has come and gone. Perhaps the owners will read the reports and take action. There are faint signs of improvement, but as of May 2007, I can't even begin to recommend moving here. I'm already in the process of finding a house.
