I am posting a letter that I am will be delivering to the Front Office tomorrow. Below is my letter, feedback and concerns. I think most others here feel the same.

------

Dear Mission-

I appreciate the July memo. This is the first communication I have received from management in the upcoming years time that Mission has taken ownership of the complex. I am requesting that my unit be sprayed for pests. This is an increasing problem in and around my area. My unit is #xxx and thank you for getting the notice out that this service is available to us. I would think pest control is regularly included without request.

The purpose of this letter is to raise my complaint and dissatisfaction with the complex in the past 10 months. When I originally became a tenant in January 06, Archstone was a great place to live. The staff was great, the community was involved, payment was never a hassle, the grounds were well kept and there was a sense of home within the complex. We received weekly memos and quick reminders in our mailbox or on our door step. Change requests or trouble orders were easily submitted online. Email reminders and monthly newsletters were all available via email. I was highly satisfied with Archstone and I considered this to be a long term residence.

So when exactly did Archstone become Mission' The only indication anyone had about the change in management was the temporary banner that was placed over the brick entrance. Our online payment system was shut down and it was our responsibility to figure out what to do next. Many of us started receiving small balance notices (with threats of being turned into collections) which actually happened to be errors within management. Welcome to Mission! What a harsh introduction if you ask me.

On another instance, I was out of town on travel for 16 days over the Christmas holidays. I returned to find my car littered with warning stickers about being towed because of lack of registration. I have yet to be able to get the stickers completely off my car. And the funny thing is; my car was legally registered in the first place. Another error in management'

My car has been severely vandalized twice. On two instances I have had to wait 2 hours for the authorities to show up and write up a criminal report. Guess what happened when I told the leasing office staff' Oh-no it happened again' This is becoming a problem! Later I found out that 2 cars were stolen and 7 others vandalized. Why don t you guys shut the freakin exit gate out front' We are paying for security and peace-of-mind. Archstone would have taken action and sent out community-watch notices long ago. Here s an idea. Why don t you have the police patrol for intruders rather than have them survey for non-registered vehicles' There s an idea!!

A couple months ago we had a rain storm and the white globe on top of my exterior light blew into the yard and shattered into pieces. As of three weeks ago I had just a standing pole in my front yard without a working light. When I was taking out my trash a few days ago I noticed that the lamp by the trash dumpster had blown over too. I took the white globe from the trash dumpster light so I could repair the light in my front yard myself. Hey, I would rather have at least 1 light working instead of two out of order. You guys should take the cost of a light bulb off my next statement, hah.

My last visit to the leasing office was in regard to a notice that was found by a neighbor blowing around in my breeze-way. She kindly kept the letter for me until I returned from out of town travel. The letter concerned an audit and another error in management about my lease not being renewed. I was told that my rent was being raised from $815 to $959 if I continue the month-to-month lease. That is a HUGE increase for such a short notice. Is it really my responsibility to proactively know and sign my lease before it expires' Why was management so reactive and had to audit accounts to find such an error' Why was something of this importance not mailed to me' I was told that it would be too expensive to mail letters to all tenants!! If you are raising my rent by $141/month because of market increases, then why the hell can t you afford a stamp'! This is an agreement I am supposed to be signing; not some random posting for a lost dog. Please do not stick things in my door if they carry such importance. You know my mailing address.

Again I am sending this letter in hopes of bringing to your attention how downhill this complex has gone since the transition from Archstone to Mission. On your memo yesterday, you said suggestions are welcome. I hope you take some of this feedback into consideration in an effort to bringing this complex back to life. People are talking and word is quickly spreading. Others are leaving and finding other places to live. Everyone here feels the same. I encourage you to do a quick Google search for Mission Brentwood and read all of the negative postings. Take Apartmentratings.com for example. I can relate to 100% of the poor feedback on that site. The feedback was positive when Archstone managed the complex.

I will be visiting again before August 1st to discuss my lease and finding the best date for termination. I would like to discuss my deposit and any fees that could be incurred for early termination of agreement.

Thank you,

PS: Don t forget to spray for bugs!!!
