Ending the lease

We had a lot of trouble when we left. Someone dropped the ball, and more people passed the buck, and our lease ending date was never corrected. After we left, they turned us in to a collecting agency saying we broke our lease. Apparently this is done "automatically" with no one checking to see whether this is accurate. Even though this mistake that was entered into their computer had been known about SINCE THE DAY it happened, no one bothered to correct it or check on it IN A YEAR. I asked them repeatedly throughout the year, nearly every month, if it was fixed and was always assured that it was. When I paid my last bill, I asked repeatedly if it was the final payment and was assured that it was. Then another bill came. I called and spoke to yet another new office person, who assured me that it was incorrect for me to have gotten a bill and that it was now taken care of. Then the credit agency called. So I called the manager, who informed me that while I did not have to pay the bill, it would be impossible to remove the remark on my file that I have "broken the terms of the lease." I kept calling because I really wanted to know what had happened for this to have gotten this far. When I asked to speak to the manager's manager, I was hung up on. I had to contact the regional manager through the phone number on the company's website. No one is apparently able to fix the mistake on the computer, but I did receive an official-looking letter saying that I left in good standing and that I never broke the lease.
From the time I began staying at Post Ridge, I never could trust them to have my rent bill correct. I could not trust them to make repairs in a timely manner or to check up on repairs to make sure they were well-completed. They did not correct the mistakes made, and when confronted with them, they turn hostile and unprofessional in the office. Instead of notifying just the people who are late with payments, they will mass paper the complex with warnings about evictions. Instead of notifying people with messy porches about the terms of the lease, even vacant apartments get warnings about possible fees to be added to rent. They change their office hours with no notification to the tenants, and they were rarely in the office whenever it was possible for both of us to be home from work.
I have since moved away. Never before and never since have I had such treatment from a rental. I am so pleased with my new place, where the rent bill is always correct, the maintenance men are timely, and the managers are thorough, polite, and professional. Too bad Post Ridge wasn't able to be like that.

I have to agree with just about all of that. But I have reviewed them before. AIMCO is much too worried about pure profit in my opinion, and very little about the quality of office personnel or the woes of their customers, as long as they have someone in that role. I'm very curious where you moved to "whoarethesepeople", if you don't mind saying, and would like to know who in town treats their management duties responsibly. I have found 2 out of 3 so far, don't do that very well. The third, only if you are very forceful about it. Post Ridge was certainly one of the worst. I hope to never have an experience like that again.
