Putting some notes in here as a one year resident. First, please don't get overwhelmed by the office and club house. Office is really nice, but you're going to be living in some older apartments - not the club house. (Why are so many pictures at this website of the clubhouse and lake, not apartment units'')

You get a good deal at these apartments, compared to similar types around town. For example, my unit had a vaulted ceiling which was cool. The apartments, while they are old, are generally kept up well.

Additionally, the office staff seemed eager to satisfy my concerns about minor issues (although they were all reasonable). The maintenance staff is awesome - best I have seen on any apartment property. You'll always see those guys out working on the property and waving hello.

As for utilities, my unit included a clothes washer which was great. Unfortunately, the water / trash / sewage bills are pricey - I paid $30-$45 per month (1 bedroom) - and I know I use way, way less water than most people.

The place has some nice pool areas, but they are closed for most of the year. Don't assume you'll be swimming year-round.

Parking was problematic. After 7 PM, there are very few places to park. It's not unusual to have to park quite far from your building, at night. The spaces are too tight, and your car will certainly get dinged.

As for neighbors -- I got lucky and have awesome and dead-quiet neighbors. I walk around the property and I see some people who are much more noisy who I am glad I don't live near. But this is just apartment living! It does seem to me that the sound travels way-too-well through the walls, however. It is unnerving to hear your neighbor sneeze, while you're reading a book.

Safety, I would say is fair. I kept an eye on the area and did not see anything too totally strange. The apartment did alert us to a couple times when a car was broken into. That's good, because I've lived at properties where they would not even tell residents about such incidents.

The surrounding area is great. GREAT! 1/2 mile to highway, big shopping market, parks, yet generally quiet. There is an occasional very loud plane going over head, but it is very occasional - maybe 1-5 a day. Otherwise, the area is very quiet, which is weird since there are so many busy roads nearby. One feature often overlooked is the Percy Priest Dam park area and Stone Creek Greenway are both in walking distance.

Please disregard reviews here are over-the-top good or bad -- these people must have a screw loose somewhere or an axe to grind. I have lived in many apartments in many cities. Stewart's Ferry Apartments is not my most favorite apartment unit, but the price, location, and staff make it totally worth recommending.
