I have lived in the lakes for two years now. I moved in because I got a great price on the rent, just $546 for a 1 BR/ 1BA. Of course the rent is steadily moving up, which is one of the reason why I am moving this year.
The management staff has DRASTICALLY IMPROVED sinced I moved in 2 yrs ago. Back then you had to be prepared to nag and nag and nag to get any maintainence service. It took them 3 months just to come look at my refridgerator that was infested with bugs. Yuk. About a month later they finally replaced it, at 8 AM on a Sunday morning (very odd timing). That is just one of many maintenance woes.
But recently, within the last 6 months or so, things have improved. Maintenance comes within a week of the request. The office staff is friendly and attentive. Communication has improved between the office and maintainence. The grounds are always nice and neat. If there are noise problems, the couresty officer takes care of the problem.
My apartment heating bill is only about $60 on average. I recommend these apartments to anyone who is on a tight budget but still wants a quality place to live.
