I have been living at the Lakes for 10 months. So far, it has been great. The staff is always responsive to our needs. I have had to be persistant, occasionally with maintainence BUT when I called, they said "We are behind on our maintainence. If we don't come in X number of days, please call back and we will come." And they did. We have had our carpets cleaned for free, and an exterminator came promptly when we mentioned spiders(!) to the staff. Everything works, our apartment was clean, the staff are polite and friendly. There are planned community events-fun! We rarely hear our upstairs neighbors. I feel safe walking my dog alone at night.
The only problem I have had is a break-in in my car. My CD player was stolen. The office told me this has been a problem, but they reminded me to make a police report so they could file an incident report. It is not their fault that someone broke into my car, however I would definitely appreciate a patrol car circulating at night.
As for the complaints of other residents: I feel they expect the apartment complex to fix problems that they cannot. For instance, how could they enforce picking up dog pooh' (By the way, the Lakes provides little baggies and trash stations all over the complex). And how can they prevent domestic disputes' Those things are just the nature of living in an apartment complex.
