Although the new management has worked to improve the outward appearance of these apartments, the customer service still leaves much to be desired. The management staff always seems as though they have something better to do other than be of assistance to you...unless, of course, it's time to milk you out of some money! At that point you will have their undivided and decidedly rude attention!
I don't suggest signing a lease with them unless you are absolutely certain that you will not experience a life-changing event that requires you to relocate (or that you are certain that you will know at least 60 days in advance that a life changing event will occur)...no way in hell they're going to compromise with you on anything.
I was recently offered a new job in another state that required me to break my lease. I expected to pay a penalty, because after all, I was breaking my lease. But after 15 months of living there, fulfilling a full 12 month lease and half of an additional 6 month lease, always paying my rent on time, I figure that we might be able to negotiate the penalty. After all, I had no idea I would suddenly be offered a job that I thought I'd been rejected from. Besides, every other apartment complex I've ever lived in was willing to work with me if I had to relocate several hundred miles away unexpectedly. This was especially true when I'd fulfilled at least half of my lease and was willing to forfeit my deposit and pay some additional penalty. But not the Lexington Apartments!!
If you don't fulfill every last day of your lease agreement AND give a full 60-days notice before vacating, they're going to hit you with every penalty they can imagine. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, or how unforseeable it was that you would have to vacate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm much less upset about having to buy out my lease as I am about the way I was treated when I went in to discuss the matter with the staff. Keep in mind, I've been living there and have fulfilled 15 months out of 18 months worth of leases, yet they treated me like I was some random con artist off the street who was trying to cheat them (remember, all I wanted to do was DISCUSS THE POSSIBILITY of negotiating the penalty). NOT A CHANCE!! Hell, they even tried to get over on me by quoting me all these rent concession and market value numbers that amounted to hundreds of dollars more than it would have cost to just pay the last 3 months of the lease lump sum! THAT'S what really ticked me off!!
By the way, that's just one of a few reasons I could give to look elsewhere. Unfortunately I just don't have the time and energy to go into more detail!
DO NOT RENT HERE! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
