I was staying there and overall bad experience.
1) They dont have a water meter ---so expect a very high water bill - 70$/month
2) Very rude staff
3) If you move out early, they charge you not only move out fee but also you have to pay the water and sewer (even if you are not there and have given the keys back) for all the months through the notice period!!
4) There is dog poop all over the place, nobody picks it up.
5) The restricted access gate does not work most of the time (250/365 days!!)

It's sad that you had a bad experience but The Preserve has been my home for a few years and I disagree with this. The grounds are beautiful and the apartments are great. The water bill is a little higher than metro water but it's not $70.

of course when you move out early, you will be charged accordingly. very few place will let you leave a contract with out paying!
