not bad to live here

I am surprised to see several former tenants low recommendation on this apartment complex. It might not be as nice as other apartments, but it definitely doesn't worth that low evaluation.

I moved in here two months ago and am not affended by whatever they mentioned here. Good things are that it is kind of cheap, $400 per month with water, you pay electr and TV/internet. It is close to either walmart and food city and china buffer, convenient. It is close to ORNL, where I am working, and is about 20 minutes ride from my office to my apartment(people working in ORNL know how deep the lab is hidden measured by car driving.). It is bright with a lot of windows and is cool in the morning and evening, but it is kind of stuffy in the late afternoon since the large window faces west. I rented a one-bed room, the bedroom is perfect for me and the living room is really spacious. I even do sports inside. Outside the window, there is a swimming pool, which is of no use for me since I don't know how to swim, but nice view though when there are gorgeous girls in bikini. I had a new carpet since the previous tenant(a youngster) totally messed up the old carpet. The service personnel are fast. I wrote email complaining that the bath tub is clogged. They arrived in two hours. The receptionists are kind and patient. But you might have to get the correct guy to find the complete apartment information.

Bad things are that there are several fans for air-conditioners under besides my apartment and thus it is kind of noisy. But it is not too bad since mine is on the 2nd floor. If you choose the right side(which I didn't notice when I moved in), you should be quiet. There is no door for the kitchen, thus the smell is not under control when you cook.

What cannot be said bad or good are the following things. Safety is always an issue in Oak Ridge. When I just arrived and stayed in the hotel, I was told not to open it when un-knowns knock on your door. Always keep your door and windows closed, etc. One buddy told me that his room was broken into three months ago and many things were missing, including his laptop which saved most of his work. He didn't worry too much since he backed his stuff up on the internet. But if that happens to me, I have to jump off the building. As far as my own experience is concerned, this place is quite safe. I went shopping twice at night around 2-4 o'clock and walked home from walmart, I went out for a walk around 6:00am in the morning, nothing happens. Paint might be a problem since I received a note from the apartment stating I should sign to give up the right to sue them for the lead based structure, which is in their original language. I personnally guess that is not the structure, but the paint they used. Thus since then, I am quite careful in putting my towels. So what' I am not a pregnent woman, it is not lethal to me. Internet is exceptionally expensive here, but this should not be attributed to the apartment itself. My neighbors are quiet, two American girls and several hispanic people. At least we greet with each other when we meet. The apartment is old, but they maintained it pretty well at least in my point of view. Of course no visit parking, but I don't have so many visitors. Ok, laundry, I don't wash my clothes often, but whenever I go to use the washmachine, they are available.

Ok, so much for the review. It takes time. But I just want to say, this place might not be the best, but it is nice and affordable and convenient.
