Not bad at all

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I have lived at Charleston Hall for nearly two years now and I have to say that it is not bad at all. In fact, overall, it is the best apartment complex I have ever lived in. The grounds are absolutely immaculate. During spring, summer and fall some little old lady can be seen constantly planting flowers and shrubbery. And she does a really awesome job of it too! The office staff is helpfull/nice, if your into caring about that kind of stuff. Personally I could care less if they are nice or not. The last thing I want to do after working all day is to go chit chat with some old women. What little dealings I have had with them have always been proffesional and resulted in me getting what I ask for. Also, I like the fact that you can rent dvd's and video games from them without a price. There has only been two bad events occur at this place since I've moved in.
#1 The handles on both of my toilets have broken. However, they were fixed in such a timely manner (within hours) that it really was no nuisance to me.
#2 My girlfriend's car was broken into and somethings were stolen. I am positive that it was carried out by some of Charleston Hall's youth, since some of the things missing were a bag of candy and the face plate to her CD player. Now I chalk this up being mostly the parent's fault and not the apartment's. Its pretty unfair to blame anyone but the parents for letting their children act like wild heathens (and yes, there are plenty of heathens here. Its comparable to Lord of the Flies or Children of the Corn during the summer months). However, the lighting in the parking lot could stand to be better. Its rather dark in some places. Perhaps if there were more lamp posts the local kiddies wouldn't go complete banannas as often as they do.
The apartments may be old, however, they seem to be built like brick houses. They are definitly insulated well. Heat and cold stay inside your apartment, hence a pretty cheap electric bill. Additionally, a true testament to how much insulation this place uses. My neighbor underneath me gets loud. I mean this guy gets REALLY LOUD! I guess he gets drunk and cusses his son like a crazed sailor. I'll hear him when I pull up late at night or when I'm out on my balcony chilling out. But when I walk into my apartment, its almost like someone hit the mute button on him. In other words sounds and vibrations do not carry over at all. My place is super quiet.
But don't get me wrong, I have not met one unfriendly person here. Even the crazy loud guy is great. I have met every person who lives in my block and we all look out for each other, helping each other with moving in/out, borrowing sugar, and what not.
Yes, the entrance to the place is a perpetuall death trap at all hours of the day/night. But what do you suggest the office staff do about that' Kick some people out and mow down a few apartment units and build a new road' The only reall solution to this problem is to just act like a good driver and show a good level of patience and logic before you pull out/in.
Yes, the rent is a little pricy. But, they have one of the largest floor plans for the dollar. Besides that, if its too expensive for you, than don't move in.
Yes, if you do not have a sticker, provided to you by the office, on your vehicle the locall towing companies will put a boot on it. But thats a good thing. I have lived in way too many apartment complexes where the staff just let any body park where ever they want. This makes it so you dont have to walk three miles in poorly lit parking lot to your house/car.
So in summation, its pretty obvious that I recommend this place. If your in to living in a beautifully kept place, whose staff is very reliable about fixing things that do screw up, than move in. If you don't like kids, you better reconsider. Its pretty sad that the only reason I have to say for anyone not to move in here is beacuse the children act like they were just released from Grassmere.
