Do You Want to Rent Here'

Imagine living in a 650 square foot one bedroom at Addison Park. Now, imagine receiving a $330.00 dollar electric bill for one month's electric usage. Does that sound wrong' It did to me when I and others received similar bills. The management's reason was that it was due to a cold snap and gas prices going up. Tenants went to management to ask why the high prices and the assistant manager rolled her eyes. The manager simply walked away. When I asked about the bills another co-worker said, "I don't want to talk to you."
What kind of business is this' To make it worse, my contract was not renewed and I was asked to leave.
Could it be that I asked too many questions about my electric bill that they could not and would not want to answer'
Was it that other tenants came with me to the leasing office questioning management about the high electric bills and I was the one that spearheaded their concerns'
Maybe it was that I took some photos of electric meters that according to Oncor are "dangerous" since they are not locked up and can electrocute a child.
What ever it was, I was kicked out.
I still paid my remaining electric bills (since they were behind by 3 months, tenants have to continue long after they move out),but it was a hassle. I sent my electricity bill payments via mail, but the manager refused to accept my payments by mail so the envelopes kept on returning to me. She did this three times.
I finally filed a complaint with the TPUC and even then Addison Park Apartments refused to respond to them. A formal complaint is now being filed by me with the TPUC. If you check out the Better Business Bureau and type in CNC Investments it will show that CNC Investments which runs Addison Park Apartments has an UNSATISFACTORY record with the Bureau. So in short, if you want to pay $300.00 - $500.00 in electricity bills due and get no answers when you inquire or get kicked out of the apartment for asking, rent here. As for me, I will continue to let others know that this is the worst apartment and apartment management company. If you want to know if your apartment or the apartment you are going to rent with is under CNC Investments go to cncinvestments.com and see the list. The situation got so bad that in order for me, a former tenant, to pay the remaining last electric bills, I had to chase down the District Manager. The managers are incompetent, to say the least. They don't respect the city regulations, nor the Texas regulations, so why would they respect the individuals living there. If you had a similar situation like mine, contact Mrs. Powers at the TPUC and the BBB along with the Texas Attorney General and don't forget the city inspection with the city of Addison. All of these people are familiar with Addison Park Apartments and know about their incompetent, unprofessional manner in which they conduct "business".

Good for you. Management in apartment complexes seems to only get worse. Where do they find these people?

I too live at Addison park and did also receive the high electric bill.
HOWEVER after checking with management (which by the way was very understanding of my concern) they checked into the problem, and informed me there was an error which they then corrected, as they were as concerned as I was with the high electric rates.
My question to you is this:
(1) How many people are living in your one bedroom?
(2) Do you regulate the usage, or do you keep it at 65 degrees 24/7 and expect to only pay $50 a month?
I was in a house prior to this, and my electric was over $1000 a month, that's with a digital thermostat regulating the electric, and keeping it between 74/76 degrees.
Electricity is expensive in TX we have the highest rates of anywhere in the USA, get used to it or move somewhere else.
Another thing to take into consideration is this, did you treat the staff as you would want to be treated in that situation?
Be nice to the people that are running where you live, you'll attract more flies with honey than with Vinegar.
I had the same issues and mine were resolved very easily when I treated the staff there with respect and courteousness.
Obviously you didn't do the same, and because of that you were treated in the same manner, and now you're throwing a fit.
And BTW, after owning a company, the BBB is pretty much crap. One complaint can give you a bad wrap, because some free loader doesn't want to pay for a service that was provided, and wants something for free.
Well in America, that's not how it works, you have to pay for services you get.
Just because you get pissy because you used more electricity than you thought you now expect some special treatment.
Well that's not how we do it here in this country.
So if you don't like how things are, and you think there is something better somewhere else, LEAVE! You do nothing but cause problems for the rest of us living in this community.
There are 1000's of other apartment communities out there, and if your unhappy go somewhere else.
That's my 2 cents.

Um, I live there too and the elec bills are insane - we are gone from 7:30am to 9pm at least 5 days a week and have no washer/dryer so the elec is off all that time - and we pay for a 1 bdrm $200 my sister who has a 3 bdrm home pays the same - it makes no sense and nobody can tell you why it is that way - only that the reason people move from there is either they are relocated or because the elec is so high.

There are some real A-holes in this world.....unfortunately a LOT of them are running our Apartment Complexes....and why? Because the management companies want some real A-hole, unfriendly mgmt people in there so they can always have the upper hand over the tenants. I know, cause I rent from another A-hole. And these people who are coming on here with these bad reviews are A-OK. Know why? They are trying to save other peoople from going through the same unfortunate crap they went through. Its not BC they are lying, or just enjoy making trouble. No, No, No...they are doing the PUBLIC a tremendous favor by alerting us to how WE would get treated should we move here too. Those of you who claim that "well, I was treated very nice and courteous, so you just don't know how to talk to people...blah, blah, blah" that's because perhaps you just don't stand up for yourself OR try to get to the bottom of a problem, or you simply are NOT COMPETENT enough to know how to go out and search the truth...whatever your little situation is....don't hate the people who DO try to find out the truth and resolve problems by going to the mgmt since that's the only place to start is with mgmt - and when you have bad mgmt, then the whole situation is going to SUCK. Stop hating the people who are warning the public of bad enterprises & bad mgmt. They have that right; we have the right to be warned (thank GOD for internet these days) and you are not a concerned citizen anyway you just want to blurt off your big mouth about Nothing and donate nothing helpful to the cause. Go away. Stay in your little apt where you have such a 'small' elec bill & stay out of our business. I know for fact that apts are OUT of CONTROL with all ulitilies and treatment of their tenants! So THERE. See ya would NOT wanna be ya.
