Seriously, good stuff.

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I came across the property by accident, I was looking for a different complex but got lost. I agreed to look at a floorplan because I liked the location and price, which is extremely good for the area. I also liked that it isn't gated, which is usually more a pain than anything else. I just signed my second lease, and I feel like I've lived here long enough to set the record straight about a few things.
Pros!
1. Decor: The walls and trim are different colors, which I love. The ceilings are different levels, not sure the correct term, but it looks great. I live in a 729 sq ft apartment and it's perfect for me and three animals (2 guinea pigs, 1 mid-size rabbit). My bathroom has two doors, opening into the bedroom and living room. I HATE having people tromp through my bedroom to use the bathroom, a very common feature in one bedroom apartments, so this is a big bonus.
2. Patios: All of them face the courtyard, which is well maintained and very pretty. They are semi-private, but I can sit on mine without seeing my neighbors on either side. No ugly parking lot to look at, just grass and trees. Lots of birds and squirrels! My neighbors have some gorgeous plants and patio art, too.
3. Exterior: The brick is lovely, landscape is maintained well and sidewalks and parking lot are clean. No cracks or chunks of rock everywhere.
4. Management: The manager, Jennifer, is awesome. I have no problem with her. I can e-mail my maintenance requests and general questions, which is incredibly convenient because I HATE having to stop into the office for every little thing. The office staff is usually pretty cool, pleasant at the very least, and there's always someone there. They sign for packages, answer questions, everything I'd expect.
5. Maintenance: I've never, ever submitted a maintenance request that wasn't completed that same day. I can't say that about anywhere else I've lived, and neither can my apartment-dwelling friends. Nothing's been stolen or dug through, they leave the place clean and leave a note letting me know they were there.
6. No roaches! I've never seen a single one. I'm loving that, which makes the #1 con more bearable...
7. Laundry room: close my my apartment, almost always empty and, most importantly, I've never had anything stolen.
8. Addison!! I love living in Addison. Location is amazing, cops are EVERYWHERE and people are great, friendly and open. Cops are really nice, too, which is a total 180 from Dallas.
CONS:
1. ANTS: God, what is with these ants!' I keep my place clean, so I'm not overrun with the beasts, but all year and all day, they're there. NOTHING helps. If I set traps in the kitchen, they pop up in the bathroom (Why'' Why the bathroom'!I don't know!) It's insane.
2. Bent Tree Brooks: That. Place. Is. Ghetto. I don't know if it's just cheaper or what, but yikes. The residents seem kind of low-class. I've never run into anyone at Bent Tree Fountains that makes me nervous, not at any time of the day, but Brooks is a whole other story. It's not like the cops are called every weekend, and I've never seen anything like drug deals, fist fights or suspicious behavior. It IS Addison, after all.
3. Laundry room, part 2: I'm just formally requesting that management not raise the prices again without warning, forcing me to walk back to my apartment - in the rain - to get more change. I was pissed. Also, when 3 of the 4 washers are flooded, fix them! Fast!
4. Parking lot: More lights. Seriously, MORE LIGHTS.
My neighbors are friendly, the staff is nice, the maintenance men always say hello when they see me and the whole place has a cheerful feeling. I enjoy being at home. I feel safe (that could be the extra deadbolt on my door, another bonus). The city is wonderful. I don't ever plan on moving, unless Brooks takes over the block. My car's never been broken into. Aside from the occasional jerk tearing through the neighborhood with their radio up, you'd never know we're 2 feet from a major highway. It's very quiet; I don't have a TV, go to bed and get up early, I would KNOW if it was loud, like a few reviewers are saying. Maybe I've got the good side of the complex - the Ledgemont side. Who knows.
The office holds meet-and-greets, poolside socials, holiday decorating contests... all sorts of little goodies to help along the feeling of community. I find it odd that nobody has mentioned this yet.
Oh, and one more thing: My electricity bill has never been higher than $150. I don't know what I'm doing differently that everyone else who's complaining about $300-400 bills. Maybe it's Reliant'
