Since originally writing this review I have managed to escape this slum. In fact, I just got out of the city all together and moved to Plano. However, I feel a responsibility to share one of the main reasons why I finally left. My brother was watching my apartment for me one weekend, while I was out of town, and came home late after a concert one night. Two men stopped him after he unlocked the front door and pulled guns on him. They took his wallet and, had they been smarter, could have taken everything inside the apartment, not to mention his car. This was the breaking point for me, as the people in the office did NOTHING when I called about the situation! In fact, the girl I talked to LAUGHED and made a joke about it!! I wrote to the property management company about it, but they never bothered to respond to me. The police said there was nothing they could do, other than increase patrols through the parking lot. The complex manager told me there was a retired cop who patrolled at night and did security, but he must have been undercover, because I NEVER saw anyone patrolling! Add this incident to all the drug deals and shootings that were going on at the time, and I decided to break my lease and get the heck out while I was still breathing! Stay away from this place; FAR FAR AWAY!!!

I've been here under the old management and the new. I let the new management people dupe me into signing a new lease, under the pretense that things would be getting better soon. Things did indeed get better, but only for the tenants living in units that face the street! My unit does not face the street. All the buildings around mine have been painted, but mine and the one across the street have not. They look like ghetto apartments! The fence around my patio has been falling down since before I moved in but, despite repeated complaints, nothing has been done about it. The unit next door got a new fence, because they had new tenants move in and could charge them extra for a nice fence! I have also asked repeatedly for a screen door to my patio, so I can open the door when it's cool and save electricity. After a year and a half of asking, I finally gave up. That's just the outside. Inside, I've had a problem with ants since about March. The one time the exterminator actually came by, he informed me that EVERYONE was having that problem, and he was going to have to come back and fix it. That was in June. I'm still waiting. I am in a split-level duplex unit. The master bathroom consists of a sink that won't drain, a toilet that has been broken since December, and a shower. The shower works fine, but when I have to go downstairs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, it kind of upsets me. The door to my closet is falling off the hinges. I have tried to fix it myself, unsuccessfully. I just hang my clothes on the doorknob now, because it's too much of a hassle to open the door!! The big problem here, is that the office and maintenance are considered two seperate entities. If you report something to the office, assuming someone actually answers the phone when you call, it never gets reported to maintenance. If you call maintenance, 97% of the time you'll get their answering machine. It's my belief that they come in every morning and just erase the messages, so they can spend their afternoons driving around on golf carts ogling at the high school girls across the street. Other than those few issues, it's not a bad place to live, if you don't mind cars driving through with the bass thumping at 4am, or your neighbors getting shot. All in all, I have to say that I would only recommend these apartments to a blind, deaf man who never bathes and likes insects.
