I'VE HAD A LEAK IN MY KITCHEN FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. I'M TALKING STEADY LEAK FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT IN THE CEILING OF THE KITCHEN. I'VE HAD MY 13 GALLON TRASH CAN UNDER ONE OF THE LEAKS AND I'VE HAD TO DUMP IT OUT MORE THAN 10 TIMES! ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS, I SAY PROCESS...IT'S BEEN OVER 2 WEEKS....OF GETTING THIS REPAIRED, I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH LIMITED USE OF MY KITCHEN. I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND BOTH OF US HAVE BEEN SEMI-SICK FOR A WHILE NOW. I'M BEGINNING TO THINK THERE IS JUST A BUNCH OF MOLD UP THERE....WHAT CAN I DO' I'M A SINGLE MOM AND CAN'T AFFORD TO BE KICKED OUT FOR CALLING THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT...I'VE RECEIVED NO COMPENSATION, NO APOLOGIES, NO MONEY OFF MY RENT..NO CALL BACKS..I CALL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.....NOTHING....SAME OLD STORY HERE FOLKS!

We are breaking our lease and moving out next month. This place is awful! Hope the management company helps!

We have a major leak in our apartment right now too and we are in process of waiting for them to fix it. They said they would have to get the contractor to fix it and that several units were having this same problem. The leak is around the fireplace and I live on the first floor!!!! Another thing you can do is send a certified letter to the management office and they have to fix it. It's in the contract, this has worked for us in the past.

THANKS SO MUCH...I JUST CALLED AND TALKED TO THE OFFICE AND THREATENED TO CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT IF THIS DOENS'T GET FIXED. OF COURSE, MY DUMB LUCK, IT'S RAINING SO THEY CAN'T GET WHAT THEY NEED DONE YET....AARRGGG....I KNOW THEY ARE AT LEAST RYING TO GET THINGS DONE. I HEARD FROM ONE OF THE MAINTENANCE MEN THAT THEY ARE SO BEHIND BECAUSE THE STAFF WALKED OUT, ALTHOUGH I THINK THEY WERE FIRED, AND HE WAS THE ONLY MAINTENANCE GUY FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS AND ALL HE WAS WORKING ON WAS AC UNITS. I KNOW THEY ARE BEHIND, I DO FEEL A SENSE OF THEM TRYING, BUT STILL...IT DOESN'T DO ME ANY GOOD RIGHT NOW...MY NEXT STEP IS THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, I'LL PROBABLY SKIP THE MANAGEMENT CO. ALL TOGETHER. IF I HADN'T BEEN GETTING A GOOD DEAL ON MY RENT FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS, I'D BE OUTTA HERE TOO! PRAY THAT I CAN MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO RENT A HOME WHEN MY LEASE IS UP!!! THANKS EVERYONE!

If I were you, I would anonymously call the office and ask for the name of the property management company. Then, call them, fax them, write to them, whatever it takes to let them know what you've had to deal with. When I lived in that crap hole a few years ago, that was the ONLY way to get anything done. And once I got in touch with them, the complex people were falling all over themselves to make sure everything was perfect. Problem is, that only lasts until the place changes management AGAIN. And call the health department. If they kick you out for that, you'll own the place before long because that is highly illegal. You might also email the local news channels. Enough people have had problems in that place that those guys will be licking their chops to expose them as slumlords!
