My lease is up in a few months and I'm considering moving due to a couple of reasons. Namely, it's becoming more difficult to find a parking space even when returning home by 6 p.m. and it seems the apartment dwellers are changing. The management staff has changed many times in the 3 years since I've been here. When my last lease was up I was offered a $100 increase for 12 months or $76 increase for 10 months. I took the latter. Lately, I've been apartment searching but have found that newer apartments are charging between $900-$1000 a month in rent for the same or fewer amenities and the ratings for some communties that I thought would be better, for example Austin Ranch and Post Addison, are not. It's relatively quiet so should I receive a reasonable rate, I will more than likely renew for one more lease term and lease a covered space until I get my own place.
