Not What They Appear To Be . . . .

When I first moved into Camden Addison, it was okay. I thought that updates could be made to the interior, but it was clean and they offered townhomes, which is what I leased. That was over 2 years ago and I have mistakenly signed 2 renewals since moving in. After a few months of signing my first renewal, they sent out a notice to the residents stating that basic cable would be offered direct through them instead of going through Charter. It was offered as an option at the time. Now everyone living in Camden Addison is forced to pay $40 a month for basic cable directly to Camden Addison, whether you want it or not. Even if you chose to have satellite service, you still have to pay the $40 a month to Camden Addison. It's a huge monopoly, not to mention how horrible Charter's cable service is. I found out through someone I met that worked for Charter that our area has the lowest grade of available service Charter offers and has no plans of upgrading - ever! This in and of itself is not my only issue with Camden. The maintenance crew leave allot to be desired. When I re-signed again, I asked for my carpet to be replaced and the caulking in my bath tub to be replaced. They refused to replace the carpet, which was stretched and worn after 2 years of me living there and who knows how long it had been there before I moved in. They did send someone to re-caulk the tub. What a joke. The guy broke several tiles while removing the old caulk and said he couldn't do anything about it. The caulking job he did looked like a 10 year old did it. Then, after he was finished, he told me that it would take a minimum of 36 hours for it to dry. Well, I am not familiar with how that stuff works, but I was amazed that it would take that long to dry. It was a Saturday afternoon that the guy came over and I had dinner plans that night. I had no choice but to take a shower despite his warning of a necessary 36 hour drying time. It turns out that it did need more drying time. Why was this not told to me up front' So, several months ago they repainted the outside of the complex, to obviously improve the asthetics and attract more traffic. I thought when this was started that the interiors would soon see some much needed upgrades. HA!!! Foolish me! This is what I was recently told by ------, the property manager. "Since we are only 11 years old, we have not felt the interior needed a rehab." Really, are you serious' In addition to this, there has been a new "low maintence / low cost" iron fence put in on back side of the townhomes on the last block going out of the community. The patios / bedrooms / living rooms in this set of townhomes all face the complex to the direct north of our community. This community leaves allot to be desired. There is allot of noise that comes from over there. The wood fence that was there before this last week, provided some privacy, somewhat of a sound barrier, and a little more sense of security than what now exists with this open iron fence. I have seen teenage kids squeeze through the fence that separates the park path from our community on numerous occassions. This new fence provides another access point for hoodlum kids to cross over. Management is not in the least concerned about any issues you bring to them. They will only fix the simplest, easiest and cheapest issues and do so accordingly. I take complete responsibility for living here. I signed the lease. No one made me. But there is no doubt that this property has much to improve upon, starting with the management. I will not be signing a new lease. Getting out of one is not so easy, and certainly not financially affordable to the average person. Therefore, I am posting this warning to all who may be considering Camden Addison or to those who currently reside at Camden Addison. Don't lease here and don't renew here. This place will disappoint - no matter how good of a deal you get.

I just got a "renewal" letter for a higher rate than for a new lessee.(???) I'll be out of here the day before my lease is up! I think the owners/mgmt. count on the prior reputation of Camden Properties to get new, unsuspecting residents, but it appears word is getting out. And, speaking of management, the individual who passes for a manager here would have been terminated from any other property in a heartbeat, and she's still here after a year! I also agree about maintenance,as well. I once came home after requesting a repair and found a work order inside that stated that the repair couldn't be made because my lock was on and they couldn't enter!! It had my apt. # on it, too, so it wasn't left in the wrong unit. That's just one incident - ants in several rooms, in my food and bed, as well...the list goes on and on. I warn anyone I know who's looking for an apartment to steer clear of this place. Good luck to both of us at a new and better place to live.

I totally agree. I have been here for about 5 years and renewing my lease every year i sthe biggest mistake i can ever do. The management is a joke and Maintenance is horrendous. They recently came to my house to fix an emergency after 72 hours. It has become a brothel in here or even a club of hoodrats and teh rent is till ridiculously high. Please do not rent. By the way the regional manager also ha sa stinky attitude just like the property manager. Someone was right they are using the old camden name to attract unknowing new residents.
