You DO NOT want to move here!

If you value your vehicle, personal belongings, privacy, and safety, you should not move here.

Let me just say that I ve lived here for a few years and at first it was okay. There were a few incidents in the first year, but that s common in a community this large. The first two years I stayed because the location was convenient and they weren t raising the rent, but then things started to really go down hill.

Post raised the rent and pulled most of the pretty landscaping at the same time. The trash rooms, halls, and exterior weren t cleaned regularly anymore. (Ironically, the Trash Fee went from $5/month to $10/month). Post stopped giving residents tickets to community events (even though they still received blocks of them from the city). The new park went in (adjacent to the community) and radio stations suddenly promoted the Addison events and every indigent and their uncle showed up and left their trash all over the place. When these events are happening you wish you weren t here. Vehicles were broken into, people urinated where ever they felt like it, the secure access gates would get propped open and these people would wonder around the buildings and party in the courtyards. The entire community would be trashed for at least a week after the event the amount of time it took to clean up the filth these people left.

This last year was the final straw for me. A Wal-Mart was built adjacent to Post Addison and the adjacent DART station. As a result crime levels have gone up. Apparently, they decided to keep occupancy levels up by offering low-income housing while at the same time raising rent $300/month for the rest of us to make up for the shortfall (robin-hood anyone'). People are mugged at knife/gunpoint walking to their apartments or cars, vehicles are broken into, and old cars drive slowly by the buildings late at night with heavy rap music blaring from the radio (looking for cars to break into/people to mug').

I ve had it. This place is trashy now; definitely not the upscale place it used to be. I gave the required 60-day notice and Post leasing agents are now showing my apartment to these undesirable people at all hours. I m scared to death that one of these people, who now know what s in my apartment and where I live and what I look like, will come back to rob me or worse.

If you have a nice/new car and/or nice/expensive things, don't move here.
If you do move here, do not go out by yourself after dark.
Smash & grab is an every day occurrence here; you can expect thieves will break into your car or vandalize it in some way.

You're right...all the crime in the world can be blamed on Wal-Mart and DART. (Which, by the way, the Wal-Mart is NOT adjacent to the property!...there are few things seperating it including city blocks and a small thing called the tollway). I'd love to see your official Addison police proof that people get mugged at knife or gunpoint while out and about. When has this happened and where was I? And if Smash & Grab were truly an every day occurence, as you say, I think your time could be better served in a CrimeWatch group then wasting time on this boob of a website.

The residents received a notice about the person held at knife point. That much is true.

well in the town that i grew up in, somebody got stabbed to death, somebody was shot and somebody killed themselves.. does that mean i live in the ghetto? well i dont i actually live in a really nice community and i assure you the reason why those things happened was not because we have a walmart... we dont have a dart station though... my point is, things like that happen everywhere, just because you thought you were moving into a sheltered community with nothing but classy people and overpriced living facilities.. doesnt mean things like that arent going to happen in your perfect rich little world.
