The location is too big of a price to pay after i've dealt with black mold, management issues, and the crime in the area..

I don't even know where to start. Problems started since day 1. Unfortunately, I started a new job and needed to find a new place in a week. I saw the location and the site and everything sounded great. Found a layout that sounded good. I only got to see a model. I was told I couldn't see the actual apartment because there were still tenants in the apartment. (I later learned the management has a section in the lease that allows them permission to come into the apartment at any time, and after you give your letter to vacate, they can show anyone the apartment and allow these strangers to enter your apartment, including potential new tenants, while you still live there. Personally, it made me uncomfortable.) Since I needed the apartment the next week, I took a chance on trusting them, and signed the lease before I had a chance to see the actual apartment. Since I couldn't get back from work until 6pm the office was already closed and I didn't get a chance to enter the apartment until around 11pm that night, I noticed only a few of the amenities I was looking for were in the apartment. Additionally, it was obvious they didn't take the time to clean the apartment after the previous tenant left. The carpets looked dingy and were completely wet. I found lights that weren't working, damage to the walls, light sockets, and kitchen, and remaining stains in the carpet, among other issues. When I went in the next morning to address the amenities and the condition of the apartment, I was told oh well since you've already signed the lease there's nothing we can do. even though that night was the first time I saw the apartment. I didn't think I could do anything at that point, so I at least put in the service requests to have the few maintenance issues fixed. Only some of the problems were fixed. I put in second requests for the things that didn't get fixed, one year later no one has fixed them.

So the things you don't see as you first take a look at the apartment. The place is infested with roaches! Personally, that's disgusting. I'm assuming it's because of the sewer outside, I think they're water roaches, but they are the large types and you can see them walking around at night, and they enter into the halls and I've seen them enter apartments if people don't keep the doors closed. Later, I had a horrible mold problem. I didn't find it at first, but when I did, it was huge. I've had the worst sinuses since I moved in. It was large spots, and it was black. When I called them to ask about it and put in a request to clean it,they never got back to me what it was, they did clean it, but they left shoeprints all over the bathroom in the tub, it was hard to clean. Pieces of the mold were all over the bathroom floor and in the tub. I don't know if there is anymore anywhere else, but I'm afraid to look. Parking is a huge issue. When two large buildings share one above gate garage, it's so hard to find parking. If you come back to the apartments after 10pm you end up getting stuck without parking, not to mention if you have guests that need to park, the parking is so limited, especially when there is a local event like Kaboomtown or Octoberfest. It was always hard when it rained to get to the garage because I would have to cross the street to get to the garage and not to mention at all the doors to the buildings for some reason it poors heavier so you get drenched right at the door. When its humid and raining, the hall floors usually get covered in water. It gets so slippery you definitely have to be careful.

The crime is a whole other issue. Within this year, I've gotten several notices about cars being broken including those parked above the gate and below the gates. Several apartments that had been burglarized. One incident even involved someone naked walking down the halls. These are just the ones I remember getting the notices about. I'm sure there are more.

I know I could think of so many more issues, but I think the above is a good start. Just be careful, and read your leases carefully as their leases I think are not TAA leases. In addition, I do question how safe the apartments are, people would prop the building door gates open with bricks and other objects, other times the door gate wouldn't work, I think it would be very easy for someone to get in and out of the buildings. I haven't even mentioned the noise and the other factors that make these apartments definitely not worth the price or the location. Who cares about a great location if the apartment itself is a dump and the service sucks even though you pay on time and never cause trouble.

I totally agree with the above review. Everything is right on. I don't have evidence of black mold in my apartment but if I leave a little bowl or glass with just a few drops of water outside, in 2-3 days it will be moldy. This is WATER I'm talking about, not fruit juice or broth. I think that mold is pervasive in Texas where it's the highest (in count of parts per billion) allergen in the list. I didn't used to have allergies until I moved here and that has happened to everyone I know who came from another state. To echo the reviewer's statements ... a) when I first moved in, the carpet still had the imprints from the previous tenant's furniture. Nice! b) when I complained about huge roaches outside or in the hallways, they wouldn't come out to spray ... luckily none found in my apt (yet) c) PAC sells us out during events ... during this last one (in early May?), I was stopped by some fat good old boy (right at the gates) who wanted to see my resident sticker to let me through (as if having a gate clicker isn't proof enough that I live there) ... they never told him that residents from a few years ago have the stickers in the back of the car so he was copping an attitude. Whoever heard of being bullied in your own home? d) my motorcycle was stolen from the "secure" side of the parking lot ... the camera view was blurry and useless (they have since removed the cameras, btw) ... it ended up being an inside job ... a resident helped his buddy from downtown get in and steal it ... they even used the resident's truck to carry it out. The guy who wasn't a resident ended up doing a few years in jail for it. The other guy got nothing because there was no proof thanks to the blurry video. He claimed his truck was stolen. BS! Anyway, that same week, something like 5 car break-ins and motorcycle thefts had happened. They thought it was a theft ring. Nope, it was just poor security. Also, it's true, we receive news of break-ins or other illegal activity fairly frequently. Main entrances are always propped open or simply inoperable (they close magnetically). I recently checked out Villages of Addison ... not great, but I think it's definitely better.

I disagree with these statements about PAC. When I went to look at the apartment I wanted to rent there was mold/mildew under the bathroom sink and it was cleaned before I even moved in. It has never come back since then. I was able to see the problem because I was shown the apartment several times actually before I decided to move in. So the claims by the original poster about not seeing the apartment before signing the lease and then being told there was nothing that could be done about the problems is completely false. I have lived in 3 different apartments here at Post and each time I was able to view them before putting in an application, then on move in day the leasing agent gives you an inspection sheet which allows you to go room by room and look over everything and document what you want them to fix before giving you both sets of keys and finalizing the lease to ensure that you will be satisfied. On top of that they offer a 30 day satisfaction term in which to relocate apartments if yours is not completely what you want. Parking can be a hassel sometimes if you come in late as was mentioned but even in the smaller garages I was able to find a space to park even if it was on the roof. Your car may not be covered but there is a space for it. There is plenty of room for guest parking in building 8 and Platinum Parking even gives you two guest passes during events for you to give to family or friends. Maybe it's only two but come on these events are things they tell you about when you come in to the leasing office. They inform you about the events and parking during those times and if you've lived around the area you should be well aware of how crowded it can get when people come to watch fireworks. Crime as an issue is another story. There have been notices of breakins and theft but they also tell you up front that they are not responsible for that. They have gates on the buildings and the garages but these things are not 100 % foolproof and no one can actually expect them to be. There are no doormen or on guard security for the sole purpose of making sure no one gets in any entrance or goes above the gates to the cars. The officers that do patrol the area do just that, they patrol the entire area as well as the rest of Addison. If you lived in a house someone can just as easily break in there or into your car. Are you going to blame the cops of the city for not sitting in front of your house all day just to make sure that nothing comes close to you. Go live in a gated house with a cop to watch your property and then you can complain about little stuff which people here at PAC try to provide as best they can but are apparently not specific enough to your needs.

I totally believe they said that nothing could be done after you moved in, that is the kind of attitude you get. They seem to be looking for ways to not help at all. The staff does not think for solutions.. ever.

I agree and disagree with some of your statements. I've had a BIG problem with roaches. They did come and spray inside my apartment but I still have them. Granted there is a lot of construction going on and I'm sure that has a lot to do with the problem but yeahh...gross. We are living in Texas! I feel very safe here. I also remember the flyer on my door about a man running around naked. I burst out laughing. I've lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Boston and well it comes with the territory. In the building I'm located in, you have to have the key to enter. I walk out of my front door into an indoor hallway. I came home around 1am from the airport after a business trip and parked in the garage when a man on a golf cart came driving up to me (security) offering to drive me to my building. I think that's great and Post offers security for their residents. I have seen the Addison Police driving around late at night. When I moved into my apartment, it was very clean and any problems I had (leaking windows) were fixed right away. I've been here for over a year and am very happy. The staff in the office were great in working with me to renew my lease. I was able to negotiate a reasonable rent increase. Compared to the rest of the country, it's not that expensive to live here especially for the amenities you get. Nothing is ever perfect in apartment life. This is by far the best place I have lived. The night life is great, people are active and out walking their dogs and you can't beat the jazz in the park during the spring and summer. It's a great place to live! :)
