I have signed a short lease, and glad that I did. If you never have a problem, that is the best way to go. If something major happens in your apt or a neighbors which affects yours, then don't except much help. Like someone else said, the front of the property is consistently looking nicer, while the back 3/4's is not. Around building 16/17 there is a sidewalk which has a 6" hole running along the bottom of it, serious water and injury hazard and no one has fixed it for nearly 8months I believe. General manager for property changes every 3 months on average. Two others have been there for a little while. Only expect a discount rate from market rate for first lease. If renewing, you'll pay market rate give or take $20.
