I moved to Alvin for job reasons and shopped around apartments in the area. None treated me as friendly as this one; they were so helpful and answered all my questions even before I decided to lease with them. This was my first time away from my parents and I'm happy with my choice. My apartment is wonderful. Sometimes maintenace gets backed up but it's never a major delay.

Just wait and you'll change your mind. We moved in a year ago, and we thought the same. The staff was nice and all. After a weeks, it started. We started noticing that the ac never turned off. We told the manager and she said she would have it looked into. A guy came 3 months later and many complaints later. He said it would have to be replaced. He never came back. We found out later that the management company (which bought the apts in '06 and is in CA by the way) let him go. And they never got back to our problem. This caused our electric bill to go from $150 in early spring to over $500 in the middle of summer. That's on top of the $710/month we paying for 2/2. And they refuse to compensate us for any of it. And they still haven't replaced the ac and it's a year later. That's just the biggest problem. There are others. There have been 4 managers in less than 2 years. There were 3 maintenance guys. They got let go. And they hired a new guy that doesn't know anything, although he is a nice guy. The front doors don't close right and stick. They are swollen from water damage from Ike and they won't replace them. The wood under the windows is rotted out and falling off the wall, and the insulation behind it is molded. The windows are plastic. Like the kind that is the same on items you buy at the store and cut apart to get to the item inside. I can push on the plastic pane and it bows out. And it's a double size window, so any heat or cold just passes right through, along with any sound. They do paste little plastic pieces on them to look like normal pane windows. When you open them, they don't stay up. You have to prop them up to stay open. They almost don't lock. It takes forever to get them to get around to maintenance anything, unless its water leaking, then they'll send someone out tomorrow. But it's only if you can see it leaking. I think the hot water heater burst and they won't do anything about it because I can't say for sure that it did. But the bathroom wall that it's behind is starting to bow out with tiles falling off (pretty good sign to me). And I think it's molding in the walls now. They painted over everything before we moved in (I guess they do it for every apt), and I mean everything. The walls, the mirror on the bottom quarter, the fixtures, the 'vents' in the bathrooms (they don't vent. they filter the air in the bathroom and you wash out the filter once in a while), the sinks and the tubs in the bathroom. Yes! They painted the sinks and tubs. With the same paint as on the walls! They even painted over the intake vent for the ac and we couldn't open it to replace the filter the first month. I had to cut the wait away to be able to open it. The upstairs ppl throw their butts on our porch or the grass and bushes in front of our window (so that we can smell the smoke through the windows, see above) after they are done smoking. And my kids and I are allergic to smoke. Our sinuses bleed and we start coughing and choking. I've spoken to the upstairs ppl about not doing it, when they told me to screw off, I told the management. Nothing has been done yet. And I have to go out every day to clean it up or it looks like a huge ashtray in front of my place. The month of Ike I was a day late paying rent, as we went out of town, and they gave me an eviction notice. First time late and only a day, and it was because of the hurricane and they gave me an eviction notice!! And none of this takes into account the roaches and other critters. They only spray one apt at a time and only when they get around to it after you complain for several months. I have spent hundreds of my own money for stuff to kill the roaches. They'll die off and for about a month I won't see anymore, then someone next to me gets their apt sprayed and they all come back over to my place. And I'm back at the store buying more stuff. If they'd do them all in one building at once, it might have a better effect than playing musical apts with the roaches. The exterminator was to come back in November, but didn't show. Then again in January, but didn't show again. Also, there is an opossum that lives in the bushes in front of my place. I've asked for it to be gotten rid of, but nothing yet and it's been 5 months. It likes to climb over everything on my porch to climb up to the upstairs ppl's. They leave their trash bags out on their porch over several days before they take it down to the dumpster, and the opossum likes to dig through it to find things to eat, and sometimes drop it down onto my area for me to clean up. We're moving as soon as our lease is up and that is why I'm on here now looking for other places. Only several more weeks to go, I'll be thrilled to get the hell out of here.
