Look elsewhere if you like having a pool and don't like being towed

I am moving as soon as my lease is up! I was very happy at my former complex, but moved when they did not have any available 3 bedrooms. I grabbed onto this because it was the only gated facility available, but I wish I had asked more questions before signing the lease. I locked into an 11 month lease and began looking for another complex within months of moving in. I am on a first floor apartment, but swear the people above me take turns pacing their floor! Every step they take creaks and I can almost see the ceiling cracking...they have young kids and my fiance has had to go up there at least a dozen times to ask them to quit jumping. When I have my daughter on the weekends, she gets very little sleep because the kids above us NEVER sleep! I think the mother keeps kids during the day and it's awful...
This is my first full summer here and I have already had to open my door twice to ask the kids to quit running up and down the stairs all day. In fact, they were skateboarding down the concret stairs! They roam the complex in packs and no one does anything about it. There is not an adult within sight. In the mornings, the outside corner of the complex is packed with kids waiting for the bus. They will jump out in front of your car and dare you to run them over. It must be some kind of game they play. Again, when informed, the office staff just put signs on every door telling residents to talk to their children (really!). I caught two young kids squirming underneath the rolling gate to make it to the bus. Fortunately, I saw them before I triggered the gate to open!
I have had to call the courtesy officer 8 times for drunken disturbances in the parking lot (always between 2-4 a.m.) and have only received one call back. My 18-yr-old daughter tried to go to the 24-hour fitness center and found the lights off, door ajar, and a young man ASLEEP in there. She fled and told me about it. I called the police officer, but never received confirmation he got my call. The office staff found out it was me that called and told me he had been doing that REGULARLY and they were fed up and were about to call the police (really!).
I think this complex gets a kickback from the towing company, too. My brother came to pick up his girls and left his car briefly in a fire zone while he ran in to get them. He came out 5 minutes later to find it was already towed - gone! A neighbor outside said they saw the tow truck around the corner watching him and waited until he got inside the apartment, then they sped up to his car, hooked it up, and sped off. He had to pay $250 to get it back. I had my car towed overnight TEN DAYS after my inspection sticker expired! My daughter said she saw me come in, then saw the tow truck round the corner and stop and wait until I got inside. She didn't know they were towing my car.
Finally, my biggest complaint: THEY SHUT DOWN THE POOL FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR! They told me they didn't want to have to pay for maintenance over the fall/winter months. You are kidding me!! Then, they have to wait for the city to inspect it so they can open back up (since they close it down). They did not open the pool up until Memorial Day weekend!! Spring Break came and went with no pool. Beautiful April and May weather, padlocked pool gate...How can you list that as an amenity when it is closed longer than it is open' The icing on the cake was when I went down to the now-open pool to lay out on a Monday and it was CLOSED! The office staff told me they also close it on Mondays to hyper-chlorinate it. The posted hours do not mention this and there has been ZERO communication from the office to the residents regarding this policy. A picture of their beautiful, pristine pool appears on their website enticing renters to move here. Little do they know, all we can do is TAKE a picture of it!!
There are several complexes with comparably-priced 3-bedroom apartments and I would recommend you explore your options before settling on this one...

I totally agree. I really feel bad for the tenants that are have someone living above them because I contantly told my five year old not to run or jump but any little movement me made my neighbor downstairs was able to hear. It's horrible.
